raD fooD: April 2013

http://rad-food.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html

Saturday, 27 April 2013. Lately Ive been trying to push myself out of my comfort zone, it is good to get out there and try new things, and brunch is no exception. So when choosing a Sunday brunch location, I decided a little road trip was in order. Lucky for Dan and I, it was a perfect day for a drive along Beach Road to Balmains Cafe. Located on Were St in Brighton, Balmains has a delightful mixture of old world charm and modern touches. Wednesday, 10 April 2013. Le Miel et la lune. Station St Trading Co.

raD fooD: Moulin Noir

http://rad-food.blogspot.com/2013/07/moulin-noir.html

Thursday, 4 July 2013. I've been to Moulin Noir four times now and each visit was totally different. I've eaten brunch, lunch, dinner and crepes. I have to admit, the brunch was good, lunch was ok, dinner was nice, but it is the crepes that have won me over. Being good little food bloggers, Dan and I ordered one sweet and one savoury crepe, just to make sure we could get a well rounded opinion. The crepes were thin, the vanilla ice cream was scrumptious, and I was a happy little camper. Its really nice t...

raD fooD: August 2012

http://rad-food.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

Thursday, 16 August 2012. PM24 is tucked away on Russell St and as you walk by it is easy to spot the impeccably dressed wait staff go about their work. Once inside, we were greeted by attentive staff and a warm, even comforting ambience. Just perfect on a cold winter night. Sunday, 12 August 2012. Where do I start? Put briefly, Victoria and I fell in love with this old town. Full of students and old timers, Salamanca has a polar mix of people and a vast array of dining options. Lunch in Plaza Major.

http://rad-food.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html

Thursday, 28 June 2012. Having visited Pireaus Blues once back at uni, I thought it would be interesting to head back there again. Id been craving Greek food and thought that it might hit the spot. Near the corner of Johnston Street and Brunswick Street in Fitzroy, Pireaus Blues has some stiff competition nearby, but the restaurant was far from empty and we found a table for two near the fireplace. Yes But sometimes cravings have their way. Friday, 22 June 2012. Tourists' day out in Melbourne. I wanted t...

Friday, 20 July 2012. During the past 3 weeks, I have been enjoying the warmth of European summer. Paris was mild but sunny and Spain was hot, hot, hot. It thawed my winter bones perfectly and now I'm back, ready to embrace coats, scarves and MIFF. Cafe de la Butte, Montmartre. Marche Bastille, Paris. Meson Cervantes, Salamanca. Mercado de San Miguel, Madrid. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Sweet Strawberry And Rosewater Labneh Bowl. Banana and strawberry cupcakes. Apples Under My Bed - A food diary.

raD fooD: Le Miel et la lune

http://rad-food.blogspot.com/2013/04/le-miel-et-la-lune.html

Wednesday, 10 April 2013. Le Miel et la lune. In recent times, I have tended to dine out within my own little geographical bubble. Boring! Luckily I now have a partner in crime, my sister Victoria, living North of the city and she guided me to a favourite cafe of hers. Le Miel et la lune has popped up on Cardigan St Carlton in recent years - well it certainly wasn't there when I was at uni - and seems to be a popular spot with the locals. Maybe they should call it the Deconstructed Vegetarian Breakfast&#...

raD fooD: Shimbashi Soba & Sake Bar

http://rad-food.blogspot.com/2013/09/shimbashi-soba-sake-bar.html

Thursday, 26 September 2013. Shimbashi Soba and Sake Bar. I am still in love with all things Japanese at the moment. So it's no real surprise that when organising a laid-back dinner with girlfriends, the venue I suggested was Shimbashi Soba and Sake Bar. The soba dishes are served either hot or cold, and being the middle of winter I couldn't bring myself to order a cold dish (maybe next time). Simple, clean flavours with noodles cooked to perfection. It was everything a soba dish is meant to be. 20 July ...

http://rad-food.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html

Sunday, 23 September 2012. As you may or may not be aware, I am partaking in a 12 week body transformation. At the moment. It is not a fad diet or drastic lifestyle change. It is simply about eating good, portioned food and exercising - how easy? And, for the most part, it has been easy. (Ive never been great with portion control though.). Since Im cooking a lot more and eating out less, there isnt so much rad food. Monday, 17 September 2012. With two wonderfully poached eggs, caressed by Virginian ham w...

Beers and snacks at Little Press | Melbourne Gastronome

https://melbournegastronome.wordpress.com/2010/09/30/beers-and-snacks-at-little-press

Beers and snacks at Little Press. Little Press and Cellar. 72 Flinders Street, Melbourne ( map. This evening I had drinks and nibbles at Little Press and Cellar with the charming J prior to going along to ACMI to see a screening of La Haine. With DJ Dexter remixing the film score live. Which was AWESOME). I hadn’t been to The Press Club since its refurb and J had never been, so it seemed like a good idea (even if George Calombaris does reportedly hate food bloggers. Wednesday, June 27, 2012. An overdue visit to Shanghai Street Dumpling. People I usually glare at who has arrived before the rush, and is gaily sauntering out into the crisp winter air with all the time in the world to seize the day. 342 Little Bourke Street. Open: Mon-Sat, lunch dinner (closed 3:30-5:30). So what about Shanghai Street? 880 for 8 pieces and the Wontons with chilli oil. 8 for 15 pieces. Wontons with chilli oil. Almost Always Hungry

Friday, May 8, 2015. En route to Brussels (stop in Köln). At the hotel in Brussel, considering options. Our adorable hotel room. Bela (an old friend of Martin's) lives in Brussels now with her 18-year old son Vincent (the last time I saw him he was about 1 year old! Drinks and snacks in the late afternoon sun. Le Pain Quotidien. Our first visit there (but it was not our last). Not Hergé, but does feature both kids. There was an exhibit featuring so many things in the orange and yellow plastics of the 70s.

What does film taste like? This creative blog mashes film and food, two passions of Wendy Cooper. A dash of film critique, a pinch of symbolism and a generous splash of full bodied metaphor, deglazed on the pan of my hungry mind. Bon appétit! What does film taste like? ALMOST ALWAYS HUNGRY

February 3, 2014. This recipe calls for quite a bit of sugar which means that it needs to be added to the egg whites more gradually and more time needs to be taken to whisk it in properly so that the whites stiffen enough to be piped. We had to whisk the meringue in true Westking style (no machines allowed! Makes approx 6 portions. 1/2 teaspoon white wine vinegar. 1) Gradually whisk the sugar into the egg whites, until stiff peaks form. 2) Gently fold in the vanilla, vinegar and cornflour. For week two o...
