The Land of Counterpane: Enough is Enough
http://thelandofcounterpane.blogspot.com/2015/07/enough-is-enough.html
The Land of Counterpane. Sunday, July 5, 2015. The remnants of a pack of Baccus. Late Roman lanciarii were looking at me funny. "Use us" they were saying, but I didn't really need more light infantry. Now, I know they work quite adequately as close order Auxilia but I didn't have enough for a whole unit as I've previously based them. The solution I came up with was to add a little diorama element in the form of a muleteer quickly taking the unit's supplies to the rear:. I love the idea of the baggage.

The Land of Counterpane: June 2015
http://thelandofcounterpane.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
The Land of Counterpane. Monday, June 29, 2015. There's not been much to report on here in recent weeks. The garden got rather out of hand while my Mum was in hospital as I was going over to Merseyside most weekends. Now the full flush of Summer has arrived there's been a jungle to clear. So wargames production has been limited - parts for my 6mm scale Gothic encampment and another Polish pancerny regiment (again 6mm). What I have had time for is reading. Scattered around the place are:. 8220;Onslaught o...

The Land of Counterpane: February 2015
http://thelandofcounterpane.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
The Land of Counterpane. Wednesday, February 25, 2015. 6mm Late Roman Army. Pete Berry is a very bad man. He keeps making me buy whole armies of Baccus miniatures. The latest to achieve something like finished status is my Late Roman army:. Many of the units have been seen here before but, on painting the last few figures, I thought it time to have an overview. The latest addition is this heavy cavalry unit:. They're actually Baccus light cavalry with painted-on bronze scale corselets. And started the sm...

The Land of Counterpane: The Pavis Project
http://thelandofcounterpane.blogspot.com/p/the-pavis-project.html
The Land of Counterpane. I've added a separate section within the blog the log the slow-moving progress of my project to game in the Big Rubble of Pavis using Song of Blades and Heroes. I have in mind being able to set up a series of factions that can, Mordheim-style, be sent on missions into the Rubble to plunder or to disrupt the plans of others. These will include at least Lunars, Sartarite rebels and Trolls. Probably the Cult of Pavis too. Could this be near Pavis? Somewhere in the city?

The Land of Counterpane: January 2015
http://thelandofcounterpane.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
The Land of Counterpane. Friday, January 30, 2015. I'm working on this pair of shops for somewhere in Andreivia. The base is a recycled cork place-mat with the paving stones inscribed with a ball-point pen. The building itself is foam-core. I shall probably add some outbuildings to the rear yards. Friday, January 23, 2015. A Couple of Evenings' Work. I fancied a change of pace so I decided to speed-paint some more Napoleonics that I had in store, based and undercoated. Sharp Practice needs relatively lar...

The Land of Counterpane: Cataphracts!
http://thelandofcounterpane.blogspot.com/2015/07/cataphracts.html
The Land of Counterpane. Wednesday, July 22, 2015. When I saw that Rapier Miniatures were attending Joy of Six I resolved to buy a pack from their 6mm Classical Ancients range to see how they compare with Baccus. I ended up getting a pack of Parthian Cataphracts - £1.25 for ten figures including a commander with a mace, a horn player, and a standard bearer with a draco. I figured this set wouldn't look out of place alongside my Late Romans and their contemporaries. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

The Land of Counterpane: May 2015
http://thelandofcounterpane.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
The Land of Counterpane. Friday, May 29, 2015. I've ben quiet here of late as pressure of family stuff has kept me away from much game-related stuff and any blogging. However, tomorrow we're playing our first game of Sharp Practice in many a year. The scenario takes place in 1814 in the foothills of the Pyrenees, just near the little village of Macho Grande. Here's my test set up of the train:. Monday, May 18, 2015. Or up in Edinburgh on a slightly early 25th Anniversary break with Stella. I had a bit of...

The Land of Counterpane: October 2014
http://thelandofcounterpane.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
The Land of Counterpane. Monday, October 27, 2014. Fiasco yesterday. It seemed to have an odd balance. I was struck by the sheer number of trade stands which seemed to out number the games considerably. In fact, grabbing a quick look at the leaflet, it appears to have been 40 traders to 27 games . That 27 surprises me as there didn't seem that many, perhaps because so many of them were "promotional" games linked to trade stands. Sunday, October 26, 2014. It made sense at the time. 6mm dismounted Dragoon ...

My Xubuntu: October 2013

Friday, 18 October 2013. Chromium Browser Not Setting As Default. I had a problem with Chromium when it had a fatal error and wouldn't restart. I had to delete the default profile to make it start again. Launch the Terminal (Alt Ctrl T). Type the following: mv /.config/chromium/Default /.config/chromium/Backup. Launch the Chromium again. This time is should open without an error. Once you have verified it works, close Chromium again. Go back into Terminal and type: rm -rf /.config/chromium/Default. I con...
