One small man's attempt at communication with loved ones en masse since no other form seems within my sphere of ability. Wednesday, October 18, 2006. He gave us each a pound of espresso and, if you're lucky and know when to drop in, you might get a taste down at Elysian. I should maybe have called it a day right there, but the brewery was just a block away, so we dropped in for a quick ale. Delicious. Beer and coffee: my sustainance. That and, ya know, God. One small man's attempt at communication with loved ones en masse since no other form seems within my sphere of ability. Tuesday, September 26, 2006. Like most popular things in life, I see them grow, despise them, resist them, and then give in once they are so lame that only a geek like me would get involved this late. I have a blog. The focus on beauty that the blog of Jon Lewis displayed inspired me. Look out blogosphere. Here I am. Posted by Andrew at 12:41 PM. Vancouver, B.C., Canada.

Tuesday, January 31, 2006. Vancouver Mini Cafe Crawl. Next we walked down to Cafe 'O' in Yaletown, where I had an espresso, and Nick, a cappuccino. Origin Labelling →. November 29, 2006. With the water situation in Vancouver (extra stuff in the water), the coffee’s been tasting a little different lately. I’ve noticed coffees tasting less clean from the Clover – with some tasting downright dirty! I also had a little chat with Alistair about water the other day. This got me thinking about the role of water in coffee. What components of the water are most important? This entry was posted in science. Origin Labelling →. 2 responses to “ Water. You are c...

Monthly Archives: May 2007. I’m awful at this…. May 30, 2007. Wow How many months has it been? Several interesting things have recently occurred. We had a visit from a Guatemalan coffee farmer at elysian, and it was really neat to be able to see the person that had grown the coffee that we were drinking at that exact moment. The Best of Panama auction just finished with the #1 going for $130/lb US, green. Craziness. Even crazier is that 49th Parallel has 2 bags! Espresso at the shop has been really amazi...

February 19, 2007 at 11:13 am. What’s your secret? My mouth is a cesspool in the morning! I’ve got either a mouthful of morning, or toothpaste in my mouth when that first cup of heaven touches my lips. Maybe in the cafe, you have other things to concentrate on, and your technique suffers? Monthly Archives: February 2007. February 22, 2007. I was in Victoria the past couple of days, and managed to check out a fairly new addition to the Victoria cafe scene: Habit. Located on Pandora, just down from Government, this is probably one of the most spacious cafes I’ve seen. They’ve kept a lot of the original brick and floors, and personally, I’m a fan of this style. They’ve also added a couple of unique touches, such as the stools made from old tractor seats. February 13, 2007. February 5, 2007.

Friday, March 31, 2006. Farewell JJ, Hello Elysian! Now that I am done school (but for finals), hopefully the post rate will go up. And so, I leave you with one last picture of JJ GI. Posted by Matthew at 9:53 AM. Sunday, March 12, 2006. No, not on portafilters. That debate is dead. For instance, is the standard triangular spout the best? What about a spout that curves to a narrower section? What about a spout that is completely narrow? It definitely bears some further work. Posted by Matthew at 7:54 PM.
