Aspiring to Simplicity: September 2011

http://aspiringtosimplicity.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html

Wednesday, September 21, 2011. Today Organique turns four! She has moments of downright civility and joyful helpfulness. I LOVE those times. Last night, after a brief meltdown wherein she would not wash her hands, she helped to set the dinner table and felt so proud of herself. :) Also, I caught her seconds before she took the scissors (again) to Baby's hair (again) the other day. A few months back she snipped off the top of her little upwards-pointing pigtail! When did that happen? Until right around he...

Aspiring to Simplicity: His Goodness 1

http://aspiringtosimplicity.blogspot.com/2012/01/his-goodness-1.html

Monday, January 30, 2012. All my good stories start out with "once upon a time." This one is no different, I suppose. :) Once upon a time, before I was born, my grandpa bought a brand-new motorcycle. It was the original Honda Goldwing, which set the bar (defined a new genre? For all forthcoming "touring" motorcycles. It was 1975, and it came in two colors: cherry and teal. He got the teal one. Hubby would come back with his pickup one day and carry the bike 2 hours to our place where he would work on it ...

Aspiring to Simplicity: His Goodness 2

http://aspiringtosimplicity.blogspot.com/2012/02/his-goodness-2.html

Wednesday, February 01, 2012. Read Part 1 here. We waited. And patiently waited. We didn't want to seem greedy, so I never asked Gramps directly about it, though we talked about it often. Several months later, while visiting Gigi, Hubby decided to go visit Gramps on his own, and find out about the bike. He came back some time later looking like he had been gut-punched, or was about to be sick. "What happened? Gramps had sold the bike to his nephew. He wouldn't do that. He promised. It was a NICE bike too...

Aspiring to Simplicity: July 2011

http://aspiringtosimplicity.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html

Monday, July 25, 2011. Okay, so I have a new money-making scheme. My husband used to watch a YouTube channel of this crazy guy that rednecked cars into trikes, and other wild antics. He also had some useful 'how to clean the carburetor' videos. Of course, when it was discovered he had been a voyeur/pedophile, they cancelled him, but not before he'd shown off his $15,000/mo checks from YouTube. I think I could do that. Not so much the how-to carb thing, and not so much useful to anyone, but for antics?

This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it! Tuesday, May 24, 2011. Six Reasons to Smile. Of course there are a million other reasons to smile every day. but here are the reasons behind most of the smiles around here. Punky - nine years old now and as handsome as ever. So much more "man" and so much less "boy" in him every day. Finny - seven years old and such a delight. This boy has the sweetest heart ever. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it! Friday, December 16, 2011. Sweet Pea is nine months old today. Every month marker is shocking to me, so I'm not sure nine months feels any more shocking than eight or seven or four or two months felt. each month comes with such dizzying speed I just can't quite catch my breath. How can time go by so crazy fast? How can my baby be nine months, three-quarters of a year old? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it! Friday, March 23, 2012. 8220;Lest We Forget”. She came tonight as I sat alone,. The girl I used to be. And she gazed at me with her earnest eye. Have you forgotten the many plans. And hopes that I had for you? The great career, the splendid fame,. All the wonderful things to do? Where is the mansion of stately height. With all of its gardens rare? The silken robes that I dreamed for you. And the jewels in your hair? We had a small famil...

Not quite sure how it can possibly have been that long since I held him in my arms for the first time. How can you remember such a moment so clearly no matter how long ago it happened? This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it! Monday, January 17, 2011. We must be doing SOMEthing right. There are definitely times as the mother of 5 (almost 6! Young children when I feel like somehow we are doing our kids a disservice by raising them in such a large family. It can't be wrong. But when wading knee deep through the culture around us (no matter how hard I try to avoid it altogether). This afternoon was Finny's 7 year well child check. And since I had so many qu...

This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it! Monday, October 14, 2013. I always want to be good. For what I do to be right. I want my faith to be right, too. I want to believe that the kind of Christian, or Christ follower, or believer, or whatever you want to call it, is the right kind. Because, you know, there really are all kinds. None of it. I can't be right, not really. Not the way I want to be. The way I strive to be. He is right, always. He is enough, always. I don't have t...

Aspiring to serve.

I will fail and fall short, but I will grow and be carried by my strength and provider, my heavenly Father. I pray never to forget.I am forever a student, aspiring only to serve. Sunday, January 23, 2011. Yumbut might be hard to swallow. A lot of us, based on rhetoric, claim that the Abrahamic covenant was conditional, but it absolutely was not, at least not in the sense, as we understand conditions. That doesn’t sound like our style of justice or our idea of fairness does it? But His word is based on hi...

Monday, November 3, 2014. November 3rd Results: $300. Today was a pretty slow day as it is the beginning of a new month and a Monday at that.
