Barefoot and Pregnant Texan

Tuesday, October 14, 2014. For John's birthday, we went and saw the play, Mary Poppins. The theater here is really first rate. It was fantastic and I think the boys enjoyed it as much as I did. Peyton had been asking a lot about Cody's work and what he does up there. I was thrilled that Cody took him up to work for a few hours one day, which also happened to be when they were having an ice cream party. Isn't it cute that they match? Well, at least I thought so! These guys have been a lot of fun lately.

Barefoot and Pregnant Texan: The "Me Time" Debate

http://barefootandpregnanttexan.blogspot.com/2014/09/the-me-time-debate.html

Saturday, September 6, 2014. The "Me Time" Debate. Recently I read a homemaking blog discussing "me time." Here are the two questions first posed:. Is your time alone godly, fruitful and productive? Or if it is sinful, selfish, and vain? What about a pedicure? It is easy to begin seeing any time away from our homemaking duties and doing anything JUST for ourselves as selfish and vain. Thomas and Jo Anna. I just read this! October 31, 2015 at 3:10 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Barefoot and Pregnant Texan: Preparing

http://barefootandpregnanttexan.blogspot.com/2014/08/preparing.html

Sunday, August 31, 2014. I'm now in a season of preparation. This coming week we officially start school and so I've been cleaning out folders, organizing our disastrous homeschooling room, and buying school supplies and things for science experiments. Last week I finished organizing shelves and everything had a place! After I finished cleaning everything on our homeschool shelves, I would peak in there periodically throughout the day and just stare at how GOOD everything looked. Organization=peace!

Barefoot and Pregnant Texan: Summer Canning

http://barefootandpregnanttexan.blogspot.com/2014/09/summer-canning.html

Saturday, September 13, 2014. Yesterday was about 55 degrees here so I figured that summer is now closed! With that, I need to post our canning and freezing pictures. That is pretty much what we did over the last few months. We have made gallons and gallons of salsa! Thankfully, Cody really enjoys this part of the process and so we can make it a family affair. Boiling the skins off and dipping them into ice water. One night Cody came home with 3 mineral tubs of sweet corn. That's a lot of corn!

The Hoskinson Family: January 2014

http://thehoskinsonfamilytx.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html

Friday, January 31, 2014. Like my new "Friday Random Post" title? Admit it. It's a bit catchy. Here are this week's Random Things. Painting Things: It's really not so bad. I have decided the worst part is actually going to buy the stuff and deciding to go through with it. High fives for taking initiative! Favorite part of my days this week: watching Hutch and Hazel shed their school clothes, throw on some "rock star" head bands and jam out to "The Bear Went Over the Mountain.". And it was in Houston?

The Hoskinson Family: The Friday Five

http://thehoskinsonfamilytx.blogspot.com/2014/05/the-friday-five.html

Friday, May 16, 2014. Hutch has recently learned a new word for when he gets mad. You may or may not have heard of it: "Oh, craps." Yes, there is an "s" on the end. And, yes, we have asked him not to say this going forward. He hears everything. And repeats everything. Just test him. Current topic of debate between me and my better half: Furniture. I think Craig's List and Jeremy thinks "new that looks old." This should be very interesting. Have you checked out The Lighthouse and The Whaler? A Catfish Rod...

The Hoskinson Family: Hey, There!

http://thehoskinsonfamilytx.blogspot.com/2014/08/hey-there.html

Saturday, August 2, 2014. I know you probably think that I have just hung up the blogging hat forever, but I am back! I may have thought about just calling it quits a few times, but I just can't seem to let her go. I can't promise that my posts will be as regular as they were, but I will do what I can. Things seem to be a bit busier these days. What have y'all been up to? I thought I would catch y'all up with a few pics that never got posted. Here are Hutch and Hazel on Easter. Word of advice? Then, of c...

The Hoskinson Family: The Friday Five- It's Baaaaack!

http://thehoskinsonfamilytx.blogspot.com/2014/08/the-friday-five-its-baaaaack.html

Friday, August 22, 2014. The Friday Five- It's Baaaaack! I have been itching to do one of these for a while now but just couldn't find my initiative if you know what I'm sayin'. Here goes:. 1 Having a "no curfew" night as an adult is entirely over-rated. Truth. 2 Words of Wisdom from my eldest child:. Hutch: "Mama, do you know what you call baby trees? Me: "No, what do you call baby trees? 3 I had my first tall-boot sighting the other day. It was about 99 degrees outside. And it wasn't me. Here is whats ...

Monday, April 1, 2013. Reflections on the Patio. So, you know how sometimes you see a perfect photo op with your kids, and you run to get the camera, but then by the time you get back, the opportunity is gone? It happens all the time to me! Luckily, just a few days ago was not. The case. We were in the backyard spraying a few things with the garden hose, the patio got all wet, and the kids started tromping through it. The sun was setting at the perfect angle for some great shots. View my complete profile.

Tuesday, June 18, 2013. On Sunday, my baby turned two. Of course, we'd already celebrated with a birthday party, and with it being Fathers' Day, she didn't get a whole. Lot of special attention. We did open a special care package from Idaho, and after dinner celebrated with cookies and blowing out a candle. But the focus was definitely on the daddies. We had everyone over for dinner and took some fun pictures afterward. Maggie is a morning person! Here she is, first thing, with her lovey. Maggie and her ...

Wednesday, September 12, 2012. We just had our youngest dedicated at church this past Sunday. We videotaped the event, but there was a smudge on the camera lens which we didn't see until AFTERward (unfortunate). AND both older children behaved horribly up at the front of church during the dedication ceremony (annoying). So, who knows if the actual video will be shared! Maggie did pose nicely in her dedication dress for some pictures after church, showing her comedienne side as always. What a ham. We are ...

Wednesday, February 27, 2013. For our latest hike, the kids and I tried "A" Mountain, which is less arduous of a drive than our usual hiking spot (being as it's right outside of town! Jack would have gone with me all the way to the top had it not been for his whiny, complain-y sister. We decided that, next time, he and I are going to leave the girls at home so we can go as far as we want. Maggie is now 20 months old! Monday, February 18, 2013. A Swimmingly Perfect V-Day. The Barefoot and Pregnant Contessa | Delighting in motherhood

The Barefoot and Pregnant Contessa. My baby is a little girl. With two little ones with cascading bedtimes, I no longer enjoy a leisurely bedtime routine with Stella. On the nights when my husband is working late and not able to put Stella to bed, bedtime is often me on the floor reading something with “good night” in the title (. Goodnight Moon, Good Night Gorilla, I Love You Good Night). With Stella in my lap while little Vivi paws at me to hold her. It’s (more…). Starting a baby journal. During one of...

I received great feedback after my last post, so I decided to follow up! I was so amazed by how many of you felt the same way- especially during the winter. One of my readers recommended the book, The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin. I ordered it on my iPad right away and got to reading. In what would have normally been a painstaking a complaint filled week, I was able to make it fun and enjoy the special time I had with my kiddos. My husband even noticed that I didn't complain once! Empire State of Mind. So as you know I made my way to New York yesterday with my roommate Danielle! We left at 1am and the bus was totally full. A gentleman moved his seat to allow Danielle and I to sit together which was so sweet! I had a pretty difficult time sleeping on the bus so when we arrived in the city at 5am we both were needing some coffee. Thank goodness for Starbucks! It was still dark when we got there! It was so much fun being there and only made us love Kelly Ripa even more! Sorry for my ...
