Barefoot and Pregnant

I received great feedback after my last post, so I decided to follow up! I was so amazed by how many of you felt the same way- especially during the winter. One of my readers recommended the book, The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin. I ordered it on my iPad right away and got to reading. In what would have normally been a painstaking a complaint filled week, I was able to make it fun and enjoy the special time I had with my kiddos. My husband even noticed that I didn't complain once! I will not turn ...

Barefoot and Pregnant: Ranch Houses and Minivans

http://barefootandpregnantin21stcentury.blogspot.com/2010/08/ranch-houses-and-minivans.html

Ranch Houses and Minivans. Ranch houses and minivans- two things that would make most of my childless friends cringe! I have always said that I would NEVER drive a minivan. But, with three kids (and that means three car seats) it looks more appealing everyday. My husband is my saving grace in this department- he will not give in to the temptation and I am generally thankful! Currently I drive a Land Rover LR3, which I love! I love everything about it- but it just isn't big enough! What a fabulous blog!

Barefoot and Pregnant: July 2010

http://barefootandpregnantin21stcentury.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

As a modern day housewife, and mother of three boys, I have quite a task ahead of me. I not only need to make sure they grow up without killing each other along the way, but I need to make sure they know how the 21st century really works. They need to know that women can fulfill many roles- not just the stereotypically female roles. I guarantee it was not from his Daddy! Although his comment was out-of-character, it was a little insight into the way his mind works. So, it is my job, from here on out, to ...

First, I would like to apologize for my absence from my blog. Life has been so crazy lately! Not only am I raising 3 boys, but I recently launched my own business, Maggie S. Photography. And planned Luke's 3rd birthday. I have hardly hadtime to sit down. So, here I am to share with you one of the things I have been up to lately- Luke's Party. Kara had the cutest, over-the-top carnival birthday I have ever seen. I only hoped mine would be half as cute as hers. Tiffany creates the cutest stuff! My boys lov...

Barefoot and Pregnant: Are You Happy?

http://barefootandpregnantin21stcentury.blogspot.com/2011/01/are-you-happy.html

As every good housewife knows, watching Oprah is a must! I have been watching Oprah daily (or at least recording it daily) since I was in college. I get to watch it about 50 percent of the time. I don't know what I would do without Tivo! Today, I was finally inspired to start blogging again after watching Oprah. The topic was "Are You Happy? To tell the truth, I have been thinking about happiness a lot lately, so it was perfect timing. I literally laughed out loud. Silence? Whenever I can hear the clock ...

Ben's Journey with Craniosynostosis: One Month of Helmetless Fun!

http://bensheadblog.blogspot.com/2010/08/one-month-of-helmetless-fun.html

Ben's Journey with Craniosynostosis. One Month of Helmetless Fun! I have been missing bragging on my sweet baby Ben, so I thought I would post an update. It has been over a month since Ben finished helmet therapy! Everyone asked me if he was so much happier without his helmet, and I have to say there was no difference at all for him. He has always been a happy baby, and the helmet really didn't affect him in any noticeable way. It is much more difficult on the parents than on the kiddos. This is only the...

Thursday, February 17, 2011. Sorry I haven't posted in a few days! We've been busy bees this month. I started my personal training school, which is going great! I'm learning a lot about muscles! I also got connected (via Ricky's colleague) to a recently-retired Olympic athlete. Paul Burgess just started his own gym after spending two decades competing in professional athletics. including the Olympics! He's a very cool guy and so is his gym! Also, the boys are home! Sunday, July 31, 2011. Summer in the States. We made our first trip back home since we moved to Perth last October. We scheduled the journey around the perfect time . summer in Tulsa and 4th of July (my fav)! We stayed in Tulsa for the majority of the time, made two trips up to Grand Lake and spent a wonderfully hot, few days in Dallas. So if you're reading this and thinking, damn I didn't get to see them. Don't you fret, there's a Qantas ticket with your name on it. Haha. Please do come! Floatin on a me...

Wednesday, December 29, 2010. A Very Beachy Christmas. Christmas Day in Perth was a scorcher! High was around 37 degrees Celsius, which translates to about 98 degrees Fahrenheit. While at home in the states, everyone was enjoying 37 degrees Fahrenheit! At 37, the best way to spend the day is on the beach or in the air con. And that's exactly what we did! We rose early (who sleeps in when Father Christmas has visited? Keep in mind when you come visit, the sun is strong over here! Sunday, December 26, 2010.

Monday, August 22, 2011. If You Give a Dog a Bone . You'll have a HAPPY HOUSE! Ricky and I went to the Farmers Market in Subiaco this Saturday. We try to go every week for the freshest fruit and veg. A new vendor opened this week and they sell healthy lean beef straight from the farm! We found Fred Flintstone bones for the dogs. So fun to watch them devour the marrow off these bones! It made for a great, relaxing Saturday! Happy Spring in Perth! Which officially starts Sept 1). Saturday, August 13, 2011.

http://scootindownunder.blogspot.com/2011/08/city-2-surf.html

Friday, August 12, 2011. The weather has been ideal for running outdoors! I'm normally a treadmill runner (gasp). But when Adele came to visit in July, she encouraged me to hit the pavement! She pushed me to run faster and longer. I was definitely stuck in a yogging rut and this half-marathoner got me out! Since she left, I've only run on the treadmill twice. (It was pouring rain/lightening and I was miserably watching every minute that ticked by.). I signed up for Perth's City to Surf. Oklahoma gal livi...

The Barefoot and Pregnant Contessa | Delighting in motherhood

The Barefoot and Pregnant Contessa. My baby is a little girl. With two little ones with cascading bedtimes, I no longer enjoy a leisurely bedtime routine with Stella. On the nights when my husband is working late and not able to put Stella to bed, bedtime is often me on the floor reading something with “good night” in the title (. Goodnight Moon, Good Night Gorilla, I Love You Good Night). With Stella in my lap while little Vivi paws at me to hold her. It’s (more…). Starting a baby journal. During one of...

Tuesday, October 14, 2014. For John's birthday, we went and saw the play, Mary Poppins. The theater here is really first rate. It was fantastic and I think the boys enjoyed it as much as I did. Peyton had been asking a lot about Cody's work and what he does up there. I was thrilled that Cody took him up to work for a few hours one day, which also happened to be when they were having an ice cream party. Isn't it cute that they match? Well, at least I thought so! These guys have been a lot of fun lately.

Empire State of Mind. So as you know I made my way to New York yesterday with my roommate Danielle! We left at 1am and the bus was totally full. A gentleman moved his seat to allow Danielle and I to sit together which was so sweet! I had a pretty difficult time sleeping on the bus so when we arrived in the city at 5am we both were needing some coffee. Thank goodness for Starbucks! It was still dark when we got there! It was so much fun being there and only made us love Kelly Ripa even more! Sorry for my ...

You really are what you eat. What I’m all About. DOUBLETHINK AND WAR CRIMES: “Why Israel Lies” / Chris Hedges. August 4, 2014. All governments lie, as I.F. Stone. Pointed out, including Israel and Hamas. But Israel engages in the kinds of jaw-dropping lies that characterize despotic and totalitarian regimes. It does not deform the truth; it inverts it. It routinely paints a picture for the outside world that is diametrically opposed to reality. Continue reading . . . August 1, 2014. I love lifting heavy ...
