Tuesday, May 31. We took a boat out on Lake Casitas today. It was my first time fishing, we gave it four hours and we didn't even get a nibble. Daddy thinks we scared the fish because mommy and I were talking and constantly moving around the boat. Monday, June 27. On the last leg of our trip we went to San Francisco. Some of the highlights of the first day were riding on a subway, under the water, from Oakdale into the city, riding the cable cars, visiting Fisherman's Wharf and Ghiradelli Square and taking in the beautiful scenery. Then we rode across the Golden Gate Bridge. Those views were amazing! The trail led us into Sausalito where we boarded a ferry that took us back to Pier 39. The perfect ending to a perfect trip. Saturday, November 26. The great think about southern California is having a birthday party outside, in short sleeves, the last week of November. It was a perfect day! I had many weeks of birthday celebrations but had a particularly fantastic time this afternoon. I had a pink and purple princess bouncy castle, lots of balloons and a few close friends. Thursday, May 08, 2014. Learning to Play Volleyball. Grace attended a 2-day volleyball clinic over Christmas break and really enjoyed learning about the sport. When we saw there was a once-a-week for 6 weeks volleyball skills clinic being offered by the park district, we signed her up. She really enjoyed it and even practiced in the yard between classes. The clinic wrapped up last week. Keeping her eye on the ball and getting a hit! With her friend, Jill, who also attended the clinic. RMs at the Village.

Andouille sausage and butternut squash bake. I’m never exact with measurements, these are just estimates. I just wing it. 4 links andouille sausage or other spicy sausage, cut in 1 inch pieces. 2 cups cubed butternut squash [see directions below for easy softening and slicing]. 1 16 oz bag fresh baby carrots. 1 cup red potatoes cubed. Frac12; sweet yellow onion cubed. Handful fresh stemmed rosemary or tablespoon dried. 2-3 Tbs olive oil. Frac14; cup dry red wine like pinot noir. Frac14; cup maple syrup.
