Bird ringing in Arctic Norway. Thursday, 15 September 2016. Late on in the session a large Siberian Tit flock neared the ringing site, however of the c40 birds within that flock, only one was caught, a retrap from last years trip at the site. A Song Thrush was a new addition to the birds we have ringed this year, a smartly plumaged juvenile while Reed Bunting again made the bulk of the catch. Below are the totals from Nyrud today. John Grønning Tur og fotoblogg. 18 mar. 2015. I natt var himmelen over Bjerkreim grønn store deler av tiden. I 9 tiden flammet nordlyset opp med rødt, grønt og lilla. Den sterkeste geomagnetiske stormen i denne solsyklusen. Traff jorden. Tipper det blir lenge til vi får slike forhold. Igjen her i sør. For en gangs skyld traff værmeldingen. Også og det tunge skylaget forsvant i kveldingen som lovet. Flere ganger var det nordlys over 60 % av synlig. Himmel. Ubeskrivelig å få se sånt nordlys så langt sør.

28 June 15 - Birding The Pirate Beach. After a great boat trip watching the Brown Fish Owl. There was time for a quick look around the edges of the Green Canyon reservoir. This is one of the Eastern subspecies known as Steppe Buzzard. We stopped briefly at the bridge just below the dam where there were a group of Red-rumped Swallows flying around. Looking towards the dam. The river just below the dam. Not the best of photos, but it is a Photo Tick. This was one of about ten boats just off the beach.
