When I moved near the corner in 2000, the intersection contained a quaint little plaza on the northeast corner with a family-owned bakery, some untamed (and rather nice) trees on the southeast corner, and a sheep farm on the southwest corner. Chloe Silver Design: Jumbotron in Smallville

http://www.blog.chloesilver.ca/2011/03/jumbotron-in-smalltown.html

Friday, March 4, 2011. I have lived in a semi-quiet suburban neighbourhood in Richmond Hill for just over eleven years now, and I can say with some level of confidence that there have been some major changes since I moved in. I am speaking specifically of the slow but sure commercialization of all four corners of the nearest major intersection to where I live, Rutherford Road and Bathurst Street. According to the Transit Toronto. What could be more ignominious than being abandoned? As we all know, it obv...

Chloe Silver Design: August 2015

http://www.blog.chloesilver.ca/2015_08_01_archive.html

Friday, August 28, 2015. Do you remember what you had for breakfast this morning? How about last Tuesday? Or maybe this day last year? Remembering little details can be difficult, and many of the details we do remember are unimportant and can clutter up your brain. But there are small exchanges and happenings that occur in my daily life that can be the difference between a good day and a bad one, and I tend to forget about things like that after a while. Dear Field Notes,. Since I already planned my days...

Chloe Silver Design: Weekly Update: Wedding Ephemera

http://www.blog.chloesilver.ca/2015/08/music-chromeo-for-my-last-venture-into.html

Sunday, August 9, 2015. Weekly Update: Wedding Ephemera. I think the guitarist David was thinking the same because he mentioned his surprise at how many people came out to see them. Quite a bit has happened this week! First, I got my G2! Onto the highway I go. Other than that, I managed to ride my bike up and down a very challenging hill (scared out of my mind) and play some tennis. I also scored a ticket for Kaytranada in September and Disclosure in October! On top of all that, I can only assume that if...

Chloe Silver Design: September 2014

http://www.blog.chloesilver.ca/2014_09_01_archive.html

Friday, September 19, 2014. I've had a smartphone for almost two years now, and I've used emojis on a regular basis for about three months. I was just never really that into them. I like the good old fashioned :) and if I am feeling really saucy, there's always room to spill over into C: and the like. We've got a whole 26-character alphabet of options! But of course, I did eventually give in to the magic that is the world of emoji. There are just so many options! Must be common, then. And I loved the ide...

Chloe Silver Design: April 2014

http://www.blog.chloesilver.ca/2014_04_01_archive.html

Wednesday, April 23, 2014. Credibility In The Strangest Places. Everybody has their guilty pleasures. Some people are addicted to reality television, some people can eat their weight in ice cream if you don't wrestle the spoon out of their hands. Mine is only slightly less horrible than that; it's memes. Yes, I can admit that I am addicted to memes. Just in case you've ben living under a rock and have no idea what I'm rambling on about, Urban Dictionary defines. That pesky meme as:. I find the above defi...

How can we build good habits that will stand the test of time? 21 Days is a revolutionary new way to build good habits that will stick. Using the mobile app, you can find other like-minded people who want to complete the same goal, and help each other to achieve a lasting habit. The app was the first place winner of an amazing Startup Weekend held in Toronto in September 2015. It can be too easy to put aside when other parts of life keep you too busy to remember your habit at all. Millennials are quick t...

How can we use design to tell stories in new ways? Objects of Desire is a personal project borne of my love for the stories told by inanimate objects. I made this website as a way to explain a trip that I took through the objects that I acquired. I wanted to create an experience that would make the user feel like we were looking at the objects together in a room, as opposed to (probably) by themselves on a digital screen. To view the webpage, follow the button below. At a number of local music concerts, ...

How can we use storytelling to connect with people we have never met? You can learn more about the app on its dedicated website. The image below will link you to the website. The app's unique selling proposition comes from the way that each story is recorded in the voice of the person who experienced that story. That way the story becomes extremely personal through tone of voice, flow, and selective pauses. Check out the working prototype below. If you're viewing this from a mobile phone, click here.

At the beginning of this project, I had a goal in mind of making generative art through the outcomes produced in an interactive data visualization. How can we learn more about global diversity at home? The goal of the project is to get the world excited about the World's fair again. While they are very popular in Europe, North America seems to have forgotten that they still exist. I created this brand in the hopes that Toronto would win the bid for the Expo in 2025, which they are currently in the running to achieve. The catalyst the main poster. Thursday, April 30, 2015. Time for an annual cherry blossom post, courtesy of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden's gorgeous trees! We also went into the greenhouses, which were lovely — I hadn't been inside them in years. I'm trying to play around a bit more with editing, hence the lack of cohesion here. Labels: brooklyn botanic garden. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
