Mike Jackson's Paddling Journal: July 23 - Cadboro Bay (#67)
http://mhjpaddling.blogspot.com/2015/07/july-23-cadboro-bay-67.html
Mike Jackson's Paddling Journal. A journal of my sea kayak trips. Thursday, July 23, 2015. July 23 - Cadboro Bay (#67). I went out for a quick evening paddle around Cadboro Bay in the surf ski. It was quite windy with a little chop, and you can see on the track that I got some help from the wind and current between Cattle Point and Jemmy Jones. It was good to clear the cobwebs out! There was a SUP event going on at the beach in Gyro Park. 7 km, YTD 546 km. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Mike Jackson's Paddling Journal. A journal of my sea kayak trips. Saturday, May 30, 2015. May 30th - Discovery Island (#49). Dan, George and I went for a morning paddle out to the islands. There was a steady 10-15 kt SW wind which made things more interesting. Nice sunny morning and a good paddle. By the time we returned, there was a solid ebb. 15 km, YTD 410 km. Mike Jackson's Paddling Journal. A journal of my sea kayak trips. Wednesday, May 20, 2015. May 17/18 - Clark and Sucia Islands (#45). Monica and Jenny and I went over to the San Juans for the weekend and used the Scamper II inflatable to go to and from the shore and the C-dory. I figured that I clocked about a total of 2 km as each run usually required two trips to get the three of us ashore or aboard! Fantastic weather and the Scamper works quite well as a tender/dinghy for the c-dory. 2 km, YTD 378 km.

Mike Jackson's Paddling Journal. A journal of my sea kayak trips. Monday, June 22, 2015. June 21st - Oyama (#57). I managed to sneak in an early morning paddle while out in Oyama for the weekend. It was nice to do a quick tour of the "south bays", check out old haunts and to stretch out a bit. Okanagan mornings are lovely! 7 km, YTD 510 km. Links to this post. Thursday, June 18, 2015. June 14, 2015 - Angel Island (#56). After my paddle, I took a tour around the "Bay Model" which is a 2 acre scale model o...

Mike Jackson's Paddling Journal. A journal of my sea kayak trips. Friday, July 03, 2015. June 28 - July 2 Gwaii Hanaas (#s 58-61). While I was working on MV Swell as a naturalist in Gwaii Hanaas, I managed to get out for 4 short paddles in one of their cute little Delta 10s. We had amazing weather and conditions throughout the trip and it was great to putter about in our anchorages in the kayaks.Looking forward to Alaska and the North Coast in August. Overview, click to enlarge. 7 km, YTD 517 km.

Mike Jackson's Paddling Journal. A journal of my sea kayak trips. Sunday, May 24, 2015. May 23rd - Breton Islands (#47). I estimate that I paddled 1 km in total, but decided not to count it! In the afternoon I went for a paddle over to the Breton Islands with Andrew and Alan. The main (south) Breton island has a very nice campsite. I also saw several the Ochre sea stars ( Pisaster sp. Which have virtually disappeared around Victoria. 10 km, YTD 394 km. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). May 5th - Towing...

Mike Jackson's Paddling Journal. A journal of my sea kayak trips. Thursday, June 18, 2015. June 14, 2015 - Angel Island (#56). I met up with two very nice Bay Area paddlers, Jackie and Diane, for a paddle from Sausalito around Angel Island. I rented a kayak and gear from Sea Trek Kayak and SUP. After my paddle, I took a tour around the "Bay Model" which is a 2 acre scale model of the waters of the SF Bay area made by the Corps of Engineers to study water movement in the bay. 17 km, YTD 503 km. Mike Jackson's Paddling Journal: August 2015
http://mhjpaddling.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Mike Jackson's Paddling Journal. A journal of my sea kayak trips. Sunday, August 30, 2015. August 30th - Jemmy Jones (#77). I managed to get out for a second "paddle" today. This time I took the Oarboard SUP for a row out to Jemmy Jones. Given the sore muscles and blisters, this definitely uses different systems than kayaking! An interesting side effect of going backwards is that you see how many seals follow you! Downside is that you aren't looking where you are going! 5 km, YTD 606 km. 15 km, YTD 601 km.

Sunday, January 8, 2017. Roof work on the northeast quadrant of the building was completed about a week before Christmas and repairs due to the leaks earlier in the year are well under way. The roofing company still plans to do the southeast quadrant before the Spring. We'll see if the weather permits it. There is still a lot of equipment and materials up there, but I'll post pictures once it's all tidied up. The ocean is out there somewhere. Visibility facing west wasn't much better.
