New York" in Vegas (I see some wild west in the foreground). Ah - at last - the REAL goal of the trip! A solar power station. In LA we were there the day of the red carpet premier of Jurassic World. Some old hand prints. A couple of my favorites:. Ahh, Patrick. Make it so! A sweet, edible Ellen - made from jelly beans.

Updates for family and friends. Saturday, June 20, 2015. West or Bust Day 11. June 11, Thursday. Leaving Monterey, we stopped at Elkhorn Slough pronounced "Slew" (I, speaking only the Queen's English, would have said "Slahff" ahem) and on up the coast towards San Francisco. Sea otters were all over the place playing around. Where we come from we have a Ross' landing. A little harbor seal came near too. She loudly scolded us for being too close. This tree was a baby around the time Jesus was born. Paul Bu...

Updates for family and friends. Saturday, June 20, 2015. Another Out West Trip - Day ONE and TWO. Honestly I can't tell you where the last 6 months got to - can't believe I haven't had ANYthing to say for 6 months? Something is wrong here. Anyhoo, we've done it again and have taken another trip out west. So we'll start with day one again. Our first picnic lunch. We had unexpected company. They politely declined our food in favor of their own. Such brilliant green almost blinded us. What a cute house!

After that it was lunch, Mariposa Grove, swimming in the creek then a drive to Glacier point around sunset. Lovely relaxing day. The lovely North Merced River which is a 5 minute walk from the camp. Updates for family and friends. Saturday, June 20, 2015. West or Bust Day 14. Sunday, June 14. We left mid-morning for Tuolomne Meadows. Lovely flowers line the cliffs along the road. The lady to the left of the sign is just hiking in from the valley. She said it was hot. Looking back from the other side to half dome. We had the best campsite in the campground - #A88 - right by the creek at the end of the road/loop. The only night we had to put our foodstuffs away in a bear box. Taken from our site.

Updates for family and friends. Saturday, June 20, 2015. West or Bust last days. The last days will be all together since we hate going back home. The rains bring out the flowers all right. Don't ask me why this and the next few photos are width challenged? While some parts had drought, Oklahoma and Texas were having floods. The leaning tower of Britten, USA. Lots of standing water. We had one night in luxury. Last day, Mississippi - not quite at flood level but still rising. Search this and listed blogs.

On the airstrip. Look how young we all were! We hiked to Mugonero's water source - a spring some distance up the hill. I guess Dad was fixing something or other. Links to this post. First, the Carpinteria beach in the morning. Oh my kelp fan. Looking at a seal. I'll be brave and get wet. These are BY FAR the most delicious strawberries we have EVER tasted. The whole flat was gone in a couple hours. Look for the harbor seal. An albino squirrel begs at lunch time. Elephant seals are the funniest animals! Search this and listed blogs.

http://johnsonjj.blogspot.com/2015/06/out-west-day-5.html
Updates for family and friends. Saturday, June 20, 2015. West or Bust Day 5. June 5, Friday. FINALLY we've made it to the real west. Heading into the mountains of Colorado. A kind man offered to take our picture. Then someone else showed up and now we're 4. The Arkansas river is a long way from home. White water farther up. Everything is so green deep in the mountains. The continental divide at this pass, the highest so far at 11 312 ft. Still quite a bit of snow here. Looking straight down the dam wall.
