Aka Blog of s. Tuesday, October 2, 2007. Six months of gardening. It's hard to believe that it has been more than six months since our garden spot was tilled into fluffy powder. L began planning early in the year. Late March, during a warm dry spell the deed was done. Plants and seeds went into the soil in short order only to be frozen soon after in an unusually late freeze. L, with the help of C spent tireless hours keeping the weeds under control and watering the fledgling plants. Tales of the feet.

sBlog: Tales of the feet

http://blog.stephen-johnson.net/2007/10/tales-of-feet.html

Aka Blog of s. Monday, October 1, 2007. Tales of the feet. The dog ate my shoes. Really, and I don't have anything to wear on my feet! Funny how some peoples pets can do no wrong. I've heard it before. "He's just playing. He won't bite.", "She's an indoor cat. She won't catch birds." Uh, what's that red hanging out of her mouth? Looks like a Cardinal to me. And finally. "You can leave the shoes there. She won't chew on them.". May I present exhibit #1:. Blundstone or "blunnies" are . . . Wait! View my co...

sBlog: September surprise

http://blog.stephen-johnson.net/2007/09/september-suprise.html

Aka Blog of s. Wednesday, September 26, 2007. So I'm mowing the lawn the other day and I see this stalk sticking out of the ground under a Dogwood tree. I decided to spare it and see what happened. Imagine my surprise when, yesterday, I saw the stalk with a smudge of red hovering over it. Further investigation revealed this unusual flower perched on top. Really like nothing that I'd ever seen. Red Spider Lily (. Flower) refers to the Buddhist term. September 28, 2007 at 10:23 PM. Your ever-loving blog fan.

Johnson's Journal Jotter: West or Bust Day 9

http://johnsonjj.blogspot.com/2015/06/out-west-day-9.html

Updates for family and friends. Saturday, June 20, 2015. West or Bust Day 9. Left Nevada in a cloud of dust and drove through ominous desert towards Los Angeles. Las Vegas's eye in the sky. New York" in Vegas (I see some wild west in the foreground). Ah - at last - the REAL goal of the trip! A solar power station. In LA we were there the day of the red carpet premier of Jurassic World. Some old hand prints. A couple of my favorites:. Ahh, Patrick. Make it so! A sweet, edible Ellen - made from jelly beans.

Johnson's Journal Jotter: West or Bust Day 11

http://johnsonjj.blogspot.com/2015/06/out-west-day-11.html

Updates for family and friends. Saturday, June 20, 2015. West or Bust Day 11. June 11, Thursday. Leaving Monterey, we stopped at Elkhorn Slough pronounced "Slew" (I, speaking only the Queen's English, would have said "Slahff" ahem) and on up the coast towards San Francisco. Sea otters were all over the place playing around. Where we come from we have a Ross' landing. A little harbor seal came near too. She loudly scolded us for being too close. This tree was a baby around the time Jesus was born. Paul Bu...

http://johnsonjj.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

Updates for family and friends. Saturday, June 20, 2015. Another Out West Trip - Day ONE and TWO. Honestly I can't tell you where the last 6 months got to - can't believe I haven't had ANYthing to say for 6 months? Something is wrong here. Anyhoo, we've done it again and have taken another trip out west. So we'll start with day one again. Our first picnic lunch. We had unexpected company. They politely declined our food in favor of their own. Such brilliant green almost blinded us. What a cute house!

Updates for family and friends. Saturday, June 20, 2015. West or Bust Day 13. Sabbath, June 13. Started out with breakfast at Stan's. Then took a tour of the camp. After that it was lunch, Mariposa Grove, swimming in the creek then a drive to Glacier point around sunset. Lovely relaxing day. The lovely North Merced River which is a 5 minute walk from the camp. The water was freezing but most everyone got in. Oh, what rotten bad luck. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Search this and listed blogs.

Updates for family and friends. Saturday, June 20, 2015. West or Bust Day 14. Sunday, June 14. We left mid-morning for Tuolomne Meadows. Lovely flowers line the cliffs along the road. The lady to the left of the sign is just hiking in from the valley. She said it was hot. Looking back from the other side to half dome. We had the best campsite in the campground - #A88 - right by the creek at the end of the road/loop. The only night we had to put our foodstuffs away in a bear box. Taken from our site.

Johnson's Journal Jotter: West or Bust last days....

http://johnsonjj.blogspot.com/2015/06/west-or-bust-last-days.html

Updates for family and friends. Saturday, June 20, 2015. West or Bust last days. The last days will be all together since we hate going back home. The rains bring out the flowers all right. Don't ask me why this and the next few photos are width challenged? While some parts had drought, Oklahoma and Texas were having floods. The leaning tower of Britten, USA. Lots of standing water. We had one night in luxury. Last day, Mississippi - not quite at flood level but still rising. Search this and listed blogs.

Johnson's Journal Jotter: November 2014

http://johnsonjj.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

Updates for family and friends. Friday, November 21, 2014. Was looking at some old Rwanda pics. Here are some of them. Cousins kayaking on Lake Kivu (at Karora). Lake Kivu from our house. On the airstrip. Look how young we all were! We hiked to Mugonero's water source - a spring some distance up the hill. I guess Dad was fixing something or other. Links to this post. Friday, November 7, 2014. We must point the world to Christ - our only hope! And is our Creator. Links to this post. A Crochety old Lady.

http://johnsonjj.blogspot.com/2015/06/out-west-day-10.html

Updates for family and friends. Saturday, June 20, 2015. West or Bust Day 10. From Carpinteria we continued up the Hwy 1 with the most spectacular scenery. First, the Carpinteria beach in the morning. Oh my kelp fan. Looking at a seal. I'll be brave and get wet. These are BY FAR the most delicious strawberries we have EVER tasted. The whole flat was gone in a couple hours. Look for the harbor seal. An albino squirrel begs at lunch time. Elephant seals are the funniest animals! Search this and listed blogs.

http://johnsonjj.blogspot.com/2015/06/out-west-day-5.html

Updates for family and friends. Saturday, June 20, 2015. West or Bust Day 5. June 5, Friday. FINALLY we've made it to the real west. Heading into the mountains of Colorado. A kind man offered to take our picture. Then someone else showed up and now we're 4. The Arkansas river is a long way from home. White water farther up. Everything is so green deep in the mountains. The continental divide at this pass, the highest so far at 11 312 ft. Still quite a bit of snow here. Looking straight down the dam wall.

What's On Steve's Mind | A blog about developing software, design, and music.

What's On Steve's Mind. A blog about developing software, design, and music. This year for Christmas I received a Theremin from my wife. An odd electronic instrument that is not very common; even less so in popular music. A couple years ago in a museum we ran across an interactive exhibit that had a Theremin and we played with it and both thought it was very cool. More recently we realized that a show we like uses a Theremin to play the melody in the theme song. All in all the Theremin has been a lot of ...

Nature, Landscape, Travel, and Life Photography. What an adventure the last couple weeks were for us in Thailand. We only hit a couple of the major spots but it was all the more exciting as our friends Juli and Mike joined us for about 12 days. Longtail Boat at the beach on Koh Phi Phi Don. After our day of diving we headed back on a ferry to spend a night on Ko Phi Phi Don. This is the way Thailand used to be, no cars and lots of palm trees lining the crystal clear water! We got to feed the elephants su...
