Brian in Oxford: August 2008
http://brianinoxford.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Technically when I post from work, I'm not actually in Oxford, but whatever. Saturday, August 16, 2008. I had friends over last weekend for drinking and some croquet games on the front lawn. I fried a turkey, made corn on the cob, and mashed potatoes with garlic, rosemary and thyme. Plus, a spice cake with homemade pear ice cream. One guy showed up bearing a watermelon that was yellow instead of pink. It tastes the same as pink, and makes just as much of a wet mess. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
Brian in Oxford: History is a series of conquerings....
http://brianinoxford.blogspot.com/2010/06/history-is-series-of-conquerings.html
Technically when I post from work, I'm not actually in Oxford, but whatever. Saturday, June 19, 2010. History is a series of conquerings. Isn't that really the world in a nutshell? Oh well, I'm no economist. I confess, Ive not seen that tart assessment of socialism. Im familiar with the quip that the problem with capitalism is capitalists, whilst the problem with socialism is socialism. Money through income taxes. Which is fine, of course. But what if this principle is then multiplied across thousand...
Brian in Oxford: April 2008

Technically when I post from work, I'm not actually in Oxford, but whatever. Saturday, April 19, 2008. Women's toes.(ladies, casual Friday should not allow me to see your feet via open-toed shoes! Motorcycles out and about (I'm cool with the freedom, but hate the noise.hey, how about a hybrid bike? That would get like 500 miles to the gallon, no? And a silent electric motor would be amusing.). Dogs left out at night (again, HATE the noise.). More kids playing b-ball at the park while I drive home. I enjo...
Brian in Oxford: September 2012
http://brianinoxford.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Technically when I post from work, I'm not actually in Oxford, but whatever. Friday, September 07, 2012. Yes, yes it is. Tonight's dinner is a bowl of baby spinach, with crumbled bacon and shaved Romano cheese on it. Then I get to watch the crappy Red Sox play out the string against Toronto. And think about covering the swimming pool for the year. See? I come back for the first post in 2 years, and it's boring as hell! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Oxford, Connecticut, United States. Brian in Oxford: DWI checkpoint
http://brianinoxford.blogspot.com/2008/12/dwi-checkpoint.html
Technically when I post from work, I'm not actually in Oxford, but whatever. Friday, December 26, 2008. I was driving home from Midnight Mass.thought about whether or not any DWI checkpoints would be going on. Would "Police Navidad! Be the wrong way to greet an officer? More strange was that only 608 hits came up on Google for the phrase "Police Navidad".I can't possibly be one of the first to invent this phrase, can I? Do drunks actually get scared of anything? No actual drinking was involved?

The best seat in the house is the view from the couch. Thursday, February 26, 2004. A-Rod for Alfonso Soriano and John Smoltz. Maybe the Rangers should have demanded Mariano Rivera too. For those of you hoping for another stellar baseball column, well I really don’t have much to say until the games actually start. The steroid scandal will always be there, the only big signing of the week was Raul Mondesi (? Delivered on Thursdays" crap? Let’s at least pay homage to the fact the. Did create the game. ...

The best seat in the house is the view from the couch. Wednesday, January 28, 2004. Here are my two quick tangents for the week. First, sweet sweet revenge. Aaron Boone injured his ACL by playing basketball this week, possibly ending his 2004 season and / or voiding his sweet new contract from the Yankees. Gee, I'm all teary-eyed. Secondly, I've been applying for many openings with local newspapers and TV stations trying to break into professional sports writing. But you know what I've found? It's kind o...

Brian in PNG | Adventures in Papua New Guinea
Adventures in Papua New Guinea. The Waghi Valley is an extensive valley in the heart of the highlands of Papua New Guinea. The Valley, and the river after which it is named, extends from the middle of Chimbu Province in the east to just past Mount Hagen of Western Highlands Province in the west. I don’t honestly know whether the correct spelling is “Waghi” or “Wahgi”. Kudjip Station with gardens in the foreground. So what am I doing in Kudjip? Monday, August 17, 2009. A Journey to the Source of the Great River. Here a post from my prayer letter in September 2008. The rain falls heavily on Ethiopia in September. As the flood waters wash down the mountains and through the city streets of Addis Ababa, they gather to form the Nile. Heading north into the vast Sahara Desert this great river shapes, defines, and brings life to the African landscape. A deep, powerful river that transforms the land wherever it flows. One of the big changes that we dis...
