Sunday, March 3, 2013. If you want to practice walking 556 meters in under 5 km, just hike the Kealia trail starting on the mauka side of the Dillingham Airfield. Joan at the start of the Kealia trail. The trail itself is challenged by rock outcroppings that you should be sure you pay attention to. Saturday, March 9, 2013. The walk to Kaena Point. Is 23 miles: the drive to its parking area is 36 miles. A New Zealand company has constructed a fence from one side of the point to the other to protect coastal plants, the nesting Albatross. And the endangered Monk Seal. Off shore we spotted the exhausting breathe of humpback whales. You can walk to the point from either side of the island. The rocks are to prevent 4 wheelers from driving any further. The New Zealand fence to protect the nesting birds.

Germany and Austria 2015. Monday, June 15, 2015. It was lightly raining when we left Rothenburg on the 0800 train towards Wurzburg. One transfer later we arrived with 30 minutes to spare prior to catching the fast train to Frankfurt . The train to Frankfurt was an hour late which is very unusual. Once again we stayed at the Bristol Hotel. Those manning the check in desk were very polite and helpful. The morning meal was included and service started at 0630. After checking in we went to the SkyLine Plaza.

We had some extra days, before leaving for home in California, so we decided to take two side trips, La Coruna and Ferrol. Plaza Mayor La Coruna. We then went to lunch and had tropical salads.
