Camp Grand Nana

Tuesday, November 9, 2010. Why, why, why (and a little how). Little Mr. A is a curious fellow. Whenever we read or watch anything, and I do mean anything, he wants to know why or what or how. But usually it’s why. When we have scriptures and it is their turn to “read,” the boys repeat the words of their verse after someone reads the verse a few words at a time. Then the adult stops to explain what happened in the verse or what something means. Me: Yea, even my father . . . A: spake much now what happened?

Camp Grand Nana: March 2010

http://www.campgrandnana.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, March 23, 2010. Good morning, Kohler! Last night went so much better than expected! Nana is working hard to not get her hopes up too much, but a repeat would be nice. Mostly ordinary stuff today. Glow sticks, meal times, play times, snack times, resting time, meltdown times, rollicking-frolicking times. The usual stuff. But overall, a tolerable day. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. No kidding! Monday, March 22, 2010. Insanity- so far, so good! Events of the Day:. Did dishes and swept floor.

Camp Grand Nana: August 2007

Wednesday, August 15, 2007. Tommy and Jonah August 2007- Day 3. Today is the big day. Mommy and Daddy come back. Last night they slept downstairs in the bunk beds again. We read two more Kevin Henkes books at bedtime. Tommy has enjoyed the books and the Lily character. Tommy and Jonah played lots of video games today and watched Uncle Steven's special videos on the computer. They loved the one with his friend pretending to be a Jedi. Tuesday, August 14, 2007. Camp Grand Nana: May 2008

http://www.campgrandnana.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html

Friday, May 9, 2008. Tommy and Jonah and Grandpa finished Bunnicula last night, so tonight, they read picture books instead. Tomorrow Tommy will go to his soccer game and then they will go home with Mommy and Daddy. Grandpa and Grandma will miss them. We all had a lot of fun together. After bath time, Grandpa read the last chapter of Bunnicula. Wednesday, May 7, 2008. That deserved an early call to Dad to share the pain and get a little consolation. Tomorrow everyone at school is bringing an appreciation...

Camp Grand Nana: April 2008

http://www.campgrandnana.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html

Wednesday, April 30, 2008. What a busy day! We went home to get Baby J and when he woke up we went back to the greenhouse so our friend Mike could run an errand. Both boys found plenty of things to do. It’s amazing how much you can do with empty pots and planters! Did you know that if you blow bubbles in front of a fan, it will suck in the bubbles? Hmmm Does this look familiar? This really was his idea- honest! Tuesday, April 29, 2008. Here is a picture of Jonah with his new friend.

View From An Empty Nest: November 2010

http://viewfromanemptynest.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

View From An Empty Nest. Monday, November 8, 2010. You see, for the last 15 or 20 minutes of nursery, they were doing bubbles and I was helping. At one point, I decided to make a wide arc of bubbles for the kids to chase. So I swung the wand in a big, wide swoop just as one of the nursery leaders walked past me from behind. I plastered her, hard, right in the face with my gloppy, goopy hand- clenched into a fist around the drippy bubble wand. Sure hope I don't see her sporting a shiner next week.

View From An Empty Nest. Sunday, December 6, 2009. Yesterday was a certain boy’s birthday. He started the day with waffles before he went to a holiday show with jugglers, acrobats and trained pigs. After lunch we had birthday singing, presents, cake and ice cream. Moo had the first taste of the Lightening McQueen cake. After cake and ice cream we went to the village market for a free horse-and-carriage ride and then back home for resting time. Saturday, December 5, 2009. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

View From An Empty Nest. Wednesday, October 13, 2010. How high are the mountains, how wide is the sky, how narrow are the lanes? Another western thing is our love is our cars and given a lower population density we glory in our roomy freeways. But, not so much right now in our town. They are rebuilding 25 miles of freeway and by my calculation my exit is right in the middle of the project. Sunday, October 10, 2010. Walking- It isn’t just for fun any more. View From An Empty Nest. Wednesday, January 18, 2012. Back on the road, we headed for Volcanoes National Park. And then it happened! What, you say? Well, we finally got to see our very first, in the wild Nene. Actually four of them, just hanging out at the side of the road, browsing in the grasses there. The Nene is the State bird of Hawaii, and is an endangered bird. Somebody's Father wisely asked, "Should I turn around and go back? Not one of the ones we bought, but pretty! Looks like an awesome day.

View From An Empty Nest. Tuesday, March 13, 2012. Then I carefully counted and spaced and planted carrot seeds for the new season. And in the fall, I covered what was left of the carrots so that we could use them during the winter. And we enjoyed carrots all winter long. That's a lot of carrots to eat our way through. No matter what's for dinner, we'll be having carrots with it. Third time's the charm? We went through Hawi and drove out to the overlook at the end of the Akoni Pule highway. It is a be...

View From An Empty Nest. Wednesday, August 21, 2013. That's right. We're back. Umit's been a while. A long while. And we were busy. A lot. Instead of putting this off until we can catch you up on the past 17 months we're just going to move forward from here. And now and then we'll throw in something interesting from the missing months. Today, I thought I would share one of the views from our patio. It's a special little garden spot. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). OK, then I take back my negative hug.

I was waiting for a few responses before I told you what made the tracks, but I can see that you are all so mystified that you are speechless, except for Grandma Betty, who guessed it right off. And the answer is…. That's right- a turtle. It had hauled itself up onto the beach not long before we got there. Stay tuned for more wildlife sightings and news of day eight in a later post. We went to church, ate in- grilled steaks, salad and fried rice- mediated a little tiff between my blog and my iPhoto, and then went for a walk. Here is a pretty flower that I noticed by the BBQ grills. And a nice Kona sunset from our lanai. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). OK, then I take back my negative hug.
