If you were confronted by a team of camera men, producers, directors, and light and sound technicians outside your classroom door one day as you reported for work, saw all of their equipment attached to cables snaking through your classroom and out the door, what would you do? Would you want to be their “star? View Outside My Adult Education Classroom. One of the Many Equipment Tables. Beginning to Feel Out of My Depth. Feeling out of my...

The Third Grade Learning Spot: June Currently

Tuesday, June 2, 2015. It's time for Farley's. Although I don't usually like or watch reality shows I get a kick out of America's Got Talent. It beats summer reruns. I'm loving that my final marking period report cards are done! I can't believe there's only 13 days left of school! I'm definitely going to miss this year's gang, which was filled with a bunch of sweeties. I've already started planning and copying things for the next school year and this one isn't even done! What are your summer plans? Thank...

Language Morning Work for 2nd grade: the sets, the bundle, and the FREEBIE! I'm sure you've been there before. I know I have. The alarm clock doesn't go off, you're late and don't have time for breakfast, and the car won't start. The rest of the day is, well, a mess to put it mildly. When you start the day off on the wrong foot, the rest of it can't be any better. You know what I'm talking about, right? It is definitely harder to have a productive and focused teaching day after a rough morning start.

Volunteering 101: The 3 "Bes" and a FREEBIE. When I made the choice to accept a new role that focused on teacher preparation versus direct classroom instruction, I knew it'd be a struggle. After six years of running my own. This should go without saying, but everyone has their own definition of professionalism. My thoughts are:. I'm not saying you need a ballroom gown (ha! But anything that could be interpreted as PJs is a "no-go.". Meet with the teacher to determine key ideas and concepts to cover.

SAME Lesson.Different Approach! Sunday, May 24, 2015. So have you ever brainstormed an idea with a colleague, talked about it in passing or during the 5 minutes you see each other after school, taught the lesson, and then upon their completion-the 2 projects turned out completely different? I LOVE the opportunity to collaborate with my coworkers, but we all have our own individual styles and it is fun to see how lessons turn out differently! My wonderful coworker hand delivered me (which she often does!

Birds in the woods classroom theme for upper grades. I guess a more accurate title for this post would be "Birds over a wooden board background classroom theme", but that wouldn't have quite the same appeal, would it? The upper grades mention, however, is pretty accurate. I've been creating this set for a while and I couldn't wait to show it to you. Here we go! REALISTIC BIRDS CLASSROOM THEME. Teaching Treks: My Top 'Scariest Teaching Moment'
http://teachingtreksandtrails.blogspot.com/2014/10/in-spirit-of-halloween-andall-things.html
My Top 'Scariest Teaching Moment'. My Top ‘Scariest Teaching Moment’. Picture this: a clear moonlit night, about 40 exhausted seven and eight year olds tucked into their sleeping bags, a circle of tents pitched in the grounds of our little country school, embers glowing softly in the remains of the camp fire. Would I have to open the building and phone for help? Hard to believe, I know, but mobile and cell phones had yet to be invented! I ran to my teaching partner’s tent and woke her up, babbling ...

Teaching across the USA… and beyond! Interview and linky - Kelsea from Michigan. My second TpT-versary is in March. I can't believe two years have gone by. I still remember how excited I felt at discovering this whole new world. I also remember every single person who has been (or not) nice, helpful, and/or friendly to me. Some of them might not even know that they helped me along the way, but they did. And I remember. My two series of interviews, Teaching Across the USA. 1 Were you born in Michigan?

Carol's Teaching Garden
Wednesday, July 1, 2015. Currently at Carol’s Teaching Garden. I’m listening to the sounds of the thunderstorm outside. It sounds like we’re inside a washing machine when the wind blows curtains of rain against the roof. I love the feeling of being safe and warm at home with my family while the storm passes. We also need this storm desperately, as our rainfall has been several inches below normal for the past couple of months. Loving: our puppy dog’s new haircut! Just look at her smile! Then take a few m...

Decorating Tips by Carol Stearns. Just another WordPress.com weblog. April 19, 2013. Second Condo BR After. Occasionally I get to help someone with decorating a condominium. Usually it’s an out of town client who needs to spruce up a few things. The budget is always slim and the client doesn’t want to put the best things into a rental condominium because many renters don’t take care of things. The client shopped online and locally for accessories and artwork nd I helped her with her online selections, re...
