4th of July Apple bites. July 4, 2015. I love apple pie, so much! I needed something to bring to a BBQ, and I wanted a fun themed food where there would be enough for everyone. Alas, these apple pie bites in patriotic colors were made. One package pillsbury refrigerated pie crust, softened. Red and blue food coloring. 4 cups minced, peeled apples. 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour. 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon. 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg. Melt a tablespoon of butter, using a pastry brush lightly coat each pie.
