Tootling Around...: Spring Break
http://tootlingaroundamt.blogspot.com/2015/04/spring-break.html
Tuesday, April 7, 2015. The campsites were nice, but the park itself has lots of poison oak. So, I had to keep my dog away from the low growing green vegetation that surrounds the campsite. I did take my dog on the only trail in the park that allowed dogs. This is unusual since most of the California State Parks don't allow dogs on the trails. The trail was wide with portions of the trail being sandy, almost like beach sand. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

My Gluten-Free World: December 2013
http://mygluten-freeworld.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, December 29, 2013. My new toy is a yogurt maker. I asked for this as a Christmas gift after deciding that I want to make my own yogurt. I consume yogurt daily in my morning smoothies. Since I like to use Greek yogurt in my smoothies, it is much cheaper to make my own yogurt. One can make yogurt within 4-6 hours, but I figure if I'm going to make my own yogurt then I would go the extra hours to produce a yogurt that is lactose free and healthier to the gut. This yogurt is so yummy! Well, all of th...

My Drought Tolerant World: When the Weeds are Sweet
http://mydroughttolerantworld.blogspot.com/2013/09/when-weeds-are-sweet.html
My Drought Tolerant World. Monday, September 2, 2013. When the Weeds are Sweet. One definition of a weed is a misplaced plant. While weeding this spring, I noticed a volunteer. Instead of pulling the plant or moving it to a different location, I left the plant alone. Last fall when I amended the soil for the citrus that I planted, I used some of my compost dirt. There must of been a seed in that compost just waiting for its chance to produce. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

My Drought Tolerant World. Thursday, May 23, 2013. Also known as Devil in the Bush or Persian Jewel. Nigella damascena is a pretty blue flower that I had never seen before until I purchased my home. I inherited this drought tolerant gem! Saturday, May 11, 2013. My Field of Flowers. This is just one small area of my yard that is in full bloom. The roses are carpet roses, which I love since they are so easy to maintain and are drought tolerant. They thrive on neglect. Friday, May 3, 2013.

My Drought Tolerant World: Penstemon
http://mydroughttolerantworld.blogspot.com/2013/07/penstemon.html
My Drought Tolerant World. Sunday, July 14, 2013. Native to the hills and mountain regions of California, these hardy plants with their cute trumpet shape flowers are loved by hummingbirds and bees. Penstemon is known as beardtongue because of the hairy stamen that hangs out of the tubular flower. My pink and purple penstemons bloom all summer and into late fall. The bees and hummingbirds that frequent these beauties are always fun to watch. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

My Drought Tolerant World: September 2013
http://mydroughttolerantworld.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
My Drought Tolerant World. Saturday, September 28, 2013. A couple of years ago, I placed some hens around my yard. This popular succulent, sempervivum, is an easy one to grow. It thrives in low or strong light and in cold or hot temperatures. One of the hens that I planted in a very sunny location had lots of off-spring. The other day, I noticed one of the chicks blooming and some others getting ready to bloom. Saturday, September 14, 2013. Coreopsis is such a pretty plant with a very peculiar name.
