courtneychap – Altars

https://courtneychap.wordpress.com/author/courtneychap

A Shepherd’s Cave. December 24, 2015. I experienced my first Christmas in the Dominican Republic in 2012. It was the first time I had been away from my family for the holidays and completely taken out of the traditions I had known for my entire life. In that time, my thoughts would constantly drift toward what I. Be doing if I was back in the states with friends and family. May we allow His grace and love to burst forth in our lives and the lives around us as we yearn for Him to come, once again. Me: &#8...

Remembering – Altars

https://courtneychap.wordpress.com/2013/10/04/376

October 4, 2013. March 29, 2014. Bethany Brown died a year ago today. With that comes the temptation to fixate my mind and thoughts on the traumatic parts that came with her unexpected death, but choosing to dwell on those things is not celebrating her life. Beth’s death forced me to deal with who I really believe God is. It’s one thing to say God is good and another to unwaveringly trust it no matter what. My belief was shaken. Is He really good? With the knowledge of a terminal illness (which I knew no...

Imagine him walking back to that place and kneeling there as he remembered the significance of that spot where he had called on the name of the LORD. He may have been dismayed or discouraged, maybe even experiencing shame as he had seemingly not come so far. However, that instance ends with God once again repeating His promise to Abram and inviting him to walk in it with confidence. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. The Bread of Life – Altars

https://courtneychap.wordpress.com/2012/09/04/fleeting

The Bread of Life. September 4, 2012. April 7, 2015. The past week or so, I’ve been drawn back again and again to the passage of Scripture where Jesus is talking about how he is the bread of life (John 6:25-59). Jesus said to them,. I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. The beginning of this passage is slightly humorous. When they found him on the other side of the lake, they asked him,. Rabbi, when did you get here? I tell you the ...

Picking Blueberries. « Melisa's Musings

https://lavendertomatoes.wordpress.com/2013/07/15/picking-blueberries

Every day do something that won't compute. 15 July, 2013. Last week I had the delightful opportunity of accompanying the Huber’s blueberry picking. We all dressed in blue- like blueberries. There’s an incredible blueberry farm only half an hour from Granger– who knew? The blueberries were so ripe, you barely touched them and they fell off into the bucket. Picking fruit is such a delightful summer activity. Here’s some photographic evidence of our gloriously spent morning. Must pick them all! Thoughts, pr...

Every day do something that won't compute. 18 June, 2013. Although it was my goal to take photos of the garden every week, my last three weeks have been so busy that I haven’t taken time to walk outside and snap a photo. So, here are the beds three weeks in. I’ll try to be more consistent from here on out🙂. Some were tastier than others, but all around, I’d say the first harvest was a success. Here are the much, much taller tomato plants. And here are my lettuces! Food Matters: Some Thoughts. By New Yor...

A Departure. « Melisa's Musings

Every day do something that won't compute. 30 August, 2013. I resonate with this quote, now that I’ve been residing in a new state for nearly two weeks. It certainly has not been all bad, not even mostly bad– in fact, it’s mostly been good. But we’re not talking about moving per say. We are talking about departure. That is progress, my friends. https://lavendertomatoes.wordpress.com/2013/07/28/a-day-in-michigan

Every day do something that won't compute. A Day in Michigan. 28 July, 2013. I eventually arrived at my destination– The Hermitage, a Mennonite retreat center founded a few decades ago. It’s a beautiful location. Most of the rooms are in a refurbished barn, which made exploring very fun indeed. There are many acres of walking trails and interesting things to stop and see along the way, like this stone chapel, which mostly just reminded me of a hobbit house. The walking trails were lovely as well:. If I s...

Part of me is surprised that break is already here, and that I didn’t get kicked out yet. But mostly I’m so grateful for what I’ve learned the past four months, the people I’ve met, and the opportunity to be at Duke in general. I owe you all much more gratitude than I can express…. Every day do something that won't compute. 20 April, 2014. 8220;I wonder if ever again Americans can have that experience of returning to a home place so intimately known, profoundly felt, deeply loved, and absolutely submitted to? It is not quite true that you can’t go home again. I have done it, coming back here. But it gets less likely. Courtney Chapin's Blog

Courtney Chapin's Blog. November 23, 2009. Derek, Nabal, Alyssa, Nick. Instead of making a video like the rest of the groups, we decided to mainly focus on sound. We wanted to force one to concentrate on the actual sound of the presentation rather than mindlessly flash images on the screen that are somehow supposed to relate to the line. The sounds were all captured on the line. They are all altered. This relates to my word in many different ways. The technological system of capturing the sound. One&#821...
