Snooty Snooty Art Talk With Nunchucks
Snooty Snooty Art Talk With Nunchucks. Friday, November 13, 2009. MIA and the MIA. I recently went MIA at the MIA to check out the Asian collection. With some extra time on my hands before closing, I wondered into their Contemporary Art section. Like picking at the scab of skinned knee when I was a kid, I just can’t leave the modern art works alone. From room to room, I wandered. I tried to at first to really find some redeeming qualities in the works hanging around me. Eight rectangles, each a different...

While searching Carlo Mollino’s apartment after his death, searchers found a drawer full of 200 polaroids or more, each picturing women in an explicit poses. None knew about the photos until then. Two of these photos were shown at the Midway during their show, The Secret Life of Objects. This series of two Polaroids are shown at eye level, framed, and approximately half an inch apart. Even though he was...

Tuesday, September 29, 2009. Claude Monet is best known for his painting of water lilies. Yet I think that Monet's portraits of people are underrated. This piece painted by Monet in 1875 is titled "La Promenade." Out of all the pieces in Monet's collection, this piece I like the best. . Or is this just a shadow cast by a cloud? From first glance this painting is but a light scene in an open field, but when you look closely, much more is uncovered. . Monday, September 28, 2009. When I first entered the Mi...

A Series of Art. Friday, November 20, 2009. Artist Book of the Hat of Dr. Suess. Dr Suess, yes the famous Dr. Suess known for his crazy illustrations and children's books. In addition to that he created numerous prints and sculptures even. Currently there is a gallery on nicollet mall that is featuring him. For my project the container will be a recreation of the hat from "The Cat in the Hat," this is because it is one of the most recognizable object of Dr.Suess's books. Sunday, October 25, 2009. The man has his arm around the woman's waist, pulling her close. Her arm is pushed against his chin and neck. The amazing thing about this struggle is its force. The flowers on the floor- did the man bring them? Did he perhaps attempt the gentlemanly approach a get turned down? Did she rest on her bed and laugh at him as he held them?

Monday, November 23, 2009. Zak Smith Artist Book: Ideas. Here are the sketches for my cover. Kind of. I'd like one large portrait of Zak with his name going down the left side of the page, with lime green highlights. The small pixel-looking image that my drawing is on top of is on of his installations at the Walker. I'm using the size and configuration as inspiration for the pages in the book. I'll have possibly 6 or 8 sections per page. The smaller sketches on this page might do a. This piece was create...
