Snooty Snooty Art Talk With Nunchucks

Snooty Snooty Art Talk With Nunchucks. Friday, November 13, 2009. MIA and the MIA. I recently went MIA at the MIA to check out the Asian collection. With some extra time on my hands before closing, I wondered into their Contemporary Art section. Like picking at the scab of skinned knee when I was a kid, I just can’t leave the modern art works alone. From room to room, I wandered. I tried to at first to really find some redeeming qualities in the works hanging around me. Eight rectangles, each a different...

Snooty Snooty Art Talk With Nunchucks: October 2009

http://www.cva-oad-sectb-fuchs09.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

Snooty Snooty Art Talk With Nunchucks. Monday, October 12, 2009. Lost in the fog of Contemporary Land. As one can tell from my blog of September 26. On John McCraken’s “Sound”, I am not a fan of contemporary art. Upon hearing that we would have class at the Walker Art Center and would be treated to a private tour, I pretty much wanted to claw myself in the face with a garden rake. Here is the record of my agony. The first piece I’d like to talk about is from French artist Yves Klein. Being that Yves did ...

Snooty Snooty Art Talk With Nunchucks. Monday, September 21, 2009. MIA- What the heck were you thinking? I can’t believe that the people at MIA are actually paid to screw things up the way they have. They blatantly placed a few works of art in obviously incongruous spots in the museum without regard to their correct configuration and mojoistic relationship with the universe. I can’t believe the world has not imploded. This travesty must be corrected immediately. Thankfully I am here to set things in order.

Snooty Snooty Art Talk With Nunchucks: September 2009

http://www.cva-oad-sectb-fuchs09.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html

Snooty Snooty Art Talk With Nunchucks. Saturday, September 26, 2009. After a brief glance and a little shake of my head at how much time must have gone into the construction of a gigantic blue rectangle, my thoughts turned to the next piece. Big blue was gone from my mind in an instant because my uneducated non-modernist viewpoint suggested that it was just that- a big blue rectangle. Who cares about a big blue rectangle? Tuesday, October 13, 2009. The best example I found of a piece with strong FORMAL qualities was Christopher Wool's Drunk II. Http:/ media.walkerart.org/2692480.jpg. There was a piece that startled me to say the least. It was a peculiar find at first, and then it became downright disturbing the more I looked at it. While it was particularly offensive in some parts, it was completely intriguing and the vileness of it kept m. Y interest nearly the whole time I waProxy-Connection: keep-alive. I chose this pi...

This is for my Orientation to Art and Design class. I'm not totally sure what will happen with it. View my complete profile. Monday, October 12, 2009. I would say so, but perhaps my definition of "art" is more broad than others'. I wonder if the reason for all of the interesting textures and proportions has something to do with Diego's personality, the vibes one gets from him, or something about the relationship between artist and subject. GARGLE FARGLE

Tuesday, October 13, 2009. 5 pieces from the Walker. At the walker one of the pieces that I thought had a good formal quality was Lucio Fontana's. The line in this work is near perfect from what i could see. looking at it, it looked like a perfect cut in a canvas but it was actually painted. My reaction to this, at first i was like blah whatever it was kinda plain but when i was told about the interpretations around it with the man standing in the window then i was slightly disturbed. I don't. Slant/ligh...

I am a boy. a boy who has a blog. this is my blog. it is for school. Sunday, January 3, 2010. One of my Favorites, Vincent Van Gogh. For me this was an near impossible task. Though i have come up with the results. Vincent Van Gogh's classic, Starry Night. This painting has always been a favorite of mine since i was really young. Van Gogh had created this piece while he was in the care of a psychiatric center in France. Image taken from www.paintingsite.net/famous-paintings-renaissance.html). This piece i...

Tuesday, November 17, 2009. Finding a fashion designer that has shown at the. Monday, October 5, 2009. While searching Carlo Mollino’s apartment after his death, searchers found a drawer full of 200 polaroids or more, each picturing women in an explicit poses. None knew about the photos until then. Two of these photos were shown at the Midway during their show, The Secret Life of Objects. This series of two Polaroids are shown at eye level, framed, and approximately half an inch apart. Art & My Times

Art and My Times. Just a photo upload right now. Review to come. Telling it like I see it. MIA curator for a day. If I were asked to curate a showing at the MIA using the pieces in their collection this is what I would come up with. My show would be called Unnatural Selections. The show would include the following works to be seen in this order. Landscape with Cattle and Sheep, c. 1852-58. Bronze, Wyoming jade base. Theseus Combatting the Minotaur, c. 1846-47. Lyubia Twins, 2009. Ceramic, glaze, flock.

Tuesday, September 29, 2009. Claude Monet is best known for his painting of water lilies. Yet I think that Monet's portraits of people are underrated. This piece painted by Monet in 1875 is titled "La Promenade." Out of all the pieces in Monet's collection, this piece I like the best. . Or is this just a shadow cast by a cloud? From first glance this painting is but a light scene in an open field, but when you look closely, much more is uncovered. . Monday, September 28, 2009. When I first entered the Mi...

A Series of Art....

A Series of Art. Friday, November 20, 2009. Artist Book of the Hat of Dr. Suess. Dr Suess, yes the famous Dr. Suess known for his crazy illustrations and children's books. In addition to that he created numerous prints and sculptures even. Currently there is a gallery on nicollet mall that is featuring him. For my project the container will be a recreation of the hat from "The Cat in the Hat," this is because it is one of the most recognizable object of Dr.Suess's books. Sunday, October 25, 2009.
