Cookin' With Cyndi

Thursday, May 22, 2014. Spinach and Artichoke Wonderpot. I think I saw this recipe on Pinterest - and thought it would be a great recipe to make when we're in our RV. But I made it tonight here at home, because I needed to give it a try first. We loved it! As well as some great ideas for low-cost, tasty meals. Beth's original recipe serves 6, but I adapted it to serve Don and me with some leftovers for tomorrow. Spinach and Artichoke Wonderpot. Adapted from Budget Bytes. 1/2 medium yellow onion. Once the...

Cookin' With Cyndi: Cranberry-Walnut Pumpkin Bread - Secret Recipe Club

http://cyndicooks.blogspot.com/2012/10/cranberry-walnut-pumpkin-bread-secret.html

Monday, October 29, 2012. Cranberry-Walnut Pumpkin Bread - Secret Recipe Club. After being out of town for several months - our trip to Colorado, followed by our trip to New York - it's time to be back participating in the Secret Recipe Club. This month I was assigned Emily's blog Life on Food. I had a great time going through her blog, checking out as many recipes as I could, but since I had just finished processing two pumpkins, I was drawn to her pumpkin bread. From Emily of Life on Food. That looks s...

Cookin' With Cyndi: Farewell Post - Secret Recipe Club

http://cyndicooks.blogspot.com/2013/01/farewell-post-secret-recipe-club.html

Monday, January 28, 2013. Farewell Post - Secret Recipe Club. I have made the decision that this is to be my last Secret Recipe Club. Okay, enough of that. For my last Secret Recipe Club post, I was assigned Nora of Natural Noshing. And "I want to try that! Today's lunch was WONDERFUL! Adapted from a recipe by Nora of Natural Noshing. 1 cup lowfat milk. 1 cup protein powder (I used vanilla). 1 tablespoon cocoa powder. 2 teaspoons instant coffee granules. To all my friends in the Secret Recipe Club. Glad ...

Cookin' With Cyndi: Blueberry Brunch Cake - Secret Recipe Club

http://cyndicooks.blogspot.com/2012/11/blueberry-brunch-cake-secret-recipe-club.html

Monday, November 26, 2012. Blueberry Brunch Cake - Secret Recipe Club. So, it's Secret Recipe Club. My assigned blog for this month was My Judy the Foodie. Shari's blog is a memorial to her mother Judy - who clearly was a cook just like my mother. There are so many similarities between the two. It's been interesting to see how a self-proclaimed "NYC carryout junkie" has described her journey through her mother's cookbooks and recipes. I almost made Judy's Garlic Chicken. From My Judy the Foodie. PS I add...

Cookin' With Cyndi: September 2012

http://cyndicooks.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html

Saturday, September 29, 2012. Candied Jalapeños, Pumpkin and a few other things. I saw this recipe on SBCanning. And was intrigued. I love spicy and sweet combined, so I'm looking forward to trying some of these. It's suggested that these are good on hamburgers, and on cream cheese atop crackers. We'll see! 1 lb fresh jalapenos. 8532; cup cider vinegar. 2 tablespoons mustard seed. 188; teaspoon tumeric. 188; teaspoon celery seed. 1 tablespoon garlic powder. 188; teaspoon cayenne pepper. I cooked these tw...

The Cookbook Junkie: Sure about the recipe, on the fence about the book

http://cookbookjunkie.blogspot.com/2007/03/sure-about-recipe-on-fence-about-book.html

Wednesday, March 07, 2007. Sure about the recipe, on the fence about the book. 1 cup picante sauce. 188; cup honey. 189; teaspoon ground ginger. 1 ½ pounds skinless, boneless chicken breasts, cut into strips. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. First I had to test some of the recipes and so far I've made three of them. The first two weren't bad but they weren't great either. Oh no. Panic set in. I don't want to give away a crappy cookbook yet I don't want two of these either, ya know? So right now the score i...

Knitting Up The Road: Gorilla Casserole

http://knittinguptheroad.blogspot.com/2013/12/gorilla-casserole.html

Saturday, December 7, 2013. About 40 years ago one of the home and food magazines had a recipe they called something like "Tomato, Beef and Pasta Casserole". The write-up described it as making enough to feed 12 hungry gorillas. 2 1/2 lbs ground meat. 2 Tbs vegetable oil. 2 cups chopped onions (2 large). 2 cups chopped celery (3 ribs). 1 1/2 cups grated carrots (3 large). 4 lbs tomatoes chopped or equivalent in canned tomatoes (two 2lb.3oz. cans Italian-style). 1 1/2 tsp oregano. 1 tsp garlic powder.

Knitting Up The Road: June 2012

Wednesday, June 6, 2012. Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow. Corrected title: Hair Yesterday, Gone Today. Back to the "wash'n wear" styles that are so practical for my lifestyle. Now I can get back to knitting. Friday, June 1, 2012. Two years of on and off boring knitting is finally finished! Of course the wool and cotton blend yarn is too heavy and warm for Albuquerque summers. It fits the way I wanted it to, a fitted sweatshirt, and will be cozy in winter weather. Knitting Up The Road: January 2013

http://knittinguptheroad.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Friday, January 4, 2013. This article was written by Dean Rippetoe of Midland, Texas. He expressed my feelings of forecasting perfectly. Trained weather forecasters can't even tell us exactly what is happening with the weather! Someone once said, “If you want to make God laugh, tell him your long range plans”. We could also be a week away from a huge success in life, Our ship may be docking right now. The greatest year we have ever experienced may be 2013. The Cookbook Junkie: The cake that fought me all the way

http://cookbookjunkie.blogspot.com/2006/01/cake-that-fought-me-all-way.html

Sunday, January 15, 2006. The cake that fought me all the way. The Ugly Binder, from the internet, Recipezaar. NOTE: This cake was actually called White Almond Sour Cream Wedding Cake and called for white cake, 8 egg whites instead of 6 whole eggs and instead of 3 teaspoons of vanilla, use 2 teaspoons vanilla and 2 teaspoons almond extract. This is the way I made it. I used Duncan Hines Yellow Cake mix for the yellow layer and Duncan Hines Fudge Cake mix for the chocolate layer. 1 1/2 teaspoons salt.

ART IN LIFE

Cyndi Conn's blog addresses contemporary issues, experiences, exhibitions, and other stray thoughts that circle back to the art world - one way or another. 15 July, 2013. I have been following Jay-Z’s recent “performance piece” at Pace Gallery in conjunction with the release of his new album.
