Virtual Environments - Group Blog: Photographs of the Paxman Horizontal Compound Steam Engine
http://cdjt-virtual.blogspot.com/2009/11/photographs-of-paxman-horizontal.html
Wednesday, 4 November 2009. Photographs of the Paxman Horizontal Compound Steam Engine. These took a little longer to upload than expected, however, I found a good solution provided by Photobucket that allowed me to store all of these images online in one place. Any team member may download these photos (if required) by accessing the Photobuck album that I have set up and clicking on the 'Download Album' button on the left-hand side of the screen. The album contains 40 images. Summary of Group Project.

Virtual Environments: Week 10-Working on the Sphere
http://tinasvirtualenvironment.blogspot.com/2009/11/week-10-working-on-sphere.html
Sunday, 29 November 2009. Week 10-Working on the Sphere. I hope to finish the modelling this week so this last file can be combined with the others and the project can hopefully be completed next week. This week I began by creating the cylinder to represent the pin which went through the central post under the sphere. I set the radius to 0.442cm as I felt this was a realistic width and the height to 10.49cm so that a little of the cylinder was visible either side of the lever. I then returned to editable...

Virtual Environments: Week 9 – Glass Creation Trial
http://tinasvirtualenvironment.blogspot.com/2009/11/week-9-glass-creation-trial.html
Monday, 23 November 2009. Week 9 – Glass Creation Trial. To begin I created a sphere in the viewport before opening the material editor. Here I opened up the ‘ get material’ window and selected the Raytrace material from the list. I then altered the settings as detailed below. Set transparency colour to white so object is fully transparent. I removed the tick from the box next to reflect and set the reflect value to 20 to apply slight reflection. Set the gain value to 0.7. Set the specular lever to 98.

Virtual Environments: October 2009
http://tinasvirtualenvironment.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Friday, 30 October 2009. Week 6-Group Presentation of Idea. I believe the group presentation went reasonably well. The PowerPoint presentation which was created beforehand covered everything which had been discussed up to that point in time, therefore giving details of all the plans we had already made. Thursday, 22 October 2009. Evaluation of Head Modelling. I am pleased with the outcome of my head, especially as I felt uncertain about whether I would be able to complete the task. The texture map, despi...

Virtual Environments - Jeremy Phillips: December 2009
http://jphillipsvirtualenvironments.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Virtual Environments - Jeremy Phillips. Thursday, 10 December 2009. Week 12 – Reflection and Thoughts. Overall, I have enjoyed working through this module. Although the workload has been quite intense, the module has been very interesting. 3D modelling is not one of my strong points and probably not something I will be continuing very much with. However, it has been great learning new skills about 3D modelling, animating the models and learning the piece of software itself. Week 12 – Presentation. The pr...

Virtual Environments - Jeremy Phillips: Week 9 – Modelling Side and Handle
http://jphillipsvirtualenvironments.blogspot.com/2009/11/week-9-modelling-side-and-handle.html
Virtual Environments - Jeremy Phillips. Thursday, 19 November 2009. Week 9 – Modelling Side and Handle. Before I started modelling the side part I had been allocated, I decided to draw out the part onto paper so I could clearly see what I was modelling. Using the reference photos and video taken, I was able to create a drawing I could work from which was easier to use than lots of photos. The bottom of the lever was created by using a box for the metal plate and two cylinders placed on top of each other ...

Virtual Environments - Jeremy Phillips: Week 7 - Job Allocation and Beginning to model
http://jphillipsvirtualenvironments.blogspot.com/2009/11/week-7-job-allocation-and-beginning-to.html
Virtual Environments - Jeremy Phillips. Thursday, 12 November 2009. Week 7 - Job Allocation and Beginning to model. As I didn’t feel I would be able to model quite as much as some of the other group members, I chose to model a small section and then mainly focus on the post production audio and video editing. The parts I chose to model were the base that the whole engine sat on and a side plate with lever and handle. I removed polygons on one end to create a recess where the main body of the engine sat&#...
