the unencumbered life: July 2012
http://the-unencumbered-life.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 16, 2012. We slept in our new home for the first time Saturday night. It was a rainy night/morning and we didn’t have to trek across the soggy yard in our bathrobes and slippers. It is good to be home. No, we are not finished…but we’re close. Our first summer guests are expected later this week and the reds (sockeye salmon) have started running in the Kenai River. We need to finish the house so that we can turn our attention to both. And probably limit out on yearly permit as well!

the unencumbered life: Madrid
http://the-unencumbered-life.blogspot.com/2014/12/madrid.html
Tuesday, December 2, 2014. Lleida to Madrid was about a six-hour drive and we had our sights on strolling through El Rastro, Madrid’s every Sunday open air flea market. Merchants fold up their tents and tables at 3:00 so we got an early start. Craggy hills to wide open plains. The Osborne bull: 46 ft high black silhouetted. Image of a bull. In semi-profile. Swatches of windmills. Towns with prominent domed churches. An army procession. Even a rainbow. Show Pam and I resisted. He won. Villa Rosa, ...

Wednesday, November 6, 2013. Final" pictures are here. In parting, here's a list of observations we've made:. Doesn't look like anything has changed in years.about 400 years. Muted colors, void of decorations.except in alpine - colorful with attention to decorative details. Roads through villages were built after the advent of automobile = no wider than footpath in some places. People are still very connected to the soil. Lifestyle is much less stressful.slower. Loud - scooters everywhere. Much more moun...

...the true confessions of mrs. olson...: The Pigeon birthday party…
http://shauna-lynn.blogspot.com/2011/04/pigeon-birthday-party.html
Wednesday, April 20, 2011. The Pigeon birthday party…. Was a hit… although the birthday boys didn’t even make it through the whole thing. Both zonked out in their cribs at Nana’s even before present opening time. Here are some highlights:. 160; . Of course, the green bus was there. My kids didn’t even play in it after this photo was taken. Old hat, I guess. Oh well, Ethan made it all worthwhile. Maow, the Queen of Scrapbooking, made the cutest accordion file keepsake books for both boys. And c...

Wednesday, July 16, 2014. Have about half the halibut we want for our “quota”. Could halibut fish every day if conditions were right. Love the water, the peacefulness, the scenery, the time with my honey, the “hit” and reeling in. Having food for the freezer to share is a bonus. Took Stan (the camper) to pick up Hannah and Nick on Friday. Realized this is Hannah’s sixth visit to Alaska (! Ten times. And they have pictures to prove it. Awesome. Mary, Mary Quite Contrary.
