Panic attack | Dispatches from Merida
https://dispatchesfrommerida.wordpress.com/2013/07/29/panic-attack
Streaming reality from tropical Yucatan. Asymp; 1 Comment. The gay panic defense is one frequently invoked by murderers of gay men. It goes like this:. 8220;He seemed like a nice guy, but then he brought up sex, so of course, I killed him.”. Defense attorneys have argued that a psychosis came over the target of an “unwanted” sexual advance and the murderer was thus unable to control his actions thereafter. The good news that the American Bar Association is considering a ban. Any woman who has been hit on...

Streaming reality from tropical Yucatan. When memories flood back. Asymp; Leave a comment. I’m not erudite enough to have read all of Proust, but what I got through impressed upon me the influence of smells upon memories. Oddly enough, what came to mind today while doing laundry is the clean, astringent and faint chemical scent of Tide with Bleach. What a contrast that was compared to the strong floral scents of various Mexican laundry detergents. Robert Wickard was the son of Raymond and Sylvia Wickard&...

Los Colores de Mérida ...adventure and a new freedom in Yucatán: October 2012
http://coloresdemerida.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
Los Colores de Mérida .adventure and a new freedom in Yucatán. Monday, October 15, 2012. Now, remember how Alan and I (well. mostly I) have anguished over how we will get ourselves and our animals to Mérida? Within a few months after we arrive in Mérida, the vehicle will be 10 years old and, if we were told correctly by Girl Friday, we should be able to nationalize it with our FM3's. If anyone can verify this, we would appreciate a comment. Other's have said we need the FM2. Links to this post.

The Mérida Initiative: January 2014
http://themeridainitiative.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
160;The Mérida Initiative. Wednesday, January 1, 2014. Do you recognize me? I was doing some cleaning, on my last night of our recent stay in Mérida, and there it was: clinging to the wall just inside the patio door. I did a bit of poking around online and found this reference to a Tailless Mexican Whip Scorpion. Or just the Tailless Whip Scorpion. My little visitor looks like it could be an immature specimen - the other ones I found look less translucent, with more serious-looking pincers. Wild Neighbor...

http://themeridainitiative.blogspot.com/2013/04/the-big-purge.html
160;The Mérida Initiative. Monday, April 15, 2013. The season of packing and moving and storing and waiting continues. I'm behind in my blogging, with various things going on at once. I'll try to catch up, one topic at a time. Tonight's topic (linked below) is letting go of stuff - I've attempted to link it here from my other neglected blog about our Victoria renovations. Hope it works! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The fox is loose in the henhouse. Mexpatriate - in the key of steve. To air is human.

Los Colores de Mérida .adventure and a new freedom in Yucatán. Wednesday, February 26, 2014. A Superb Dining Adventure. Elizabeth and Chef Pedro. Our friends, Elizabeth and Anne, had been wanting us to accompany them for dinner at K’u'uK. Or after dinner. We chose to eat first as we were all quite hungry. February 28, 2014 at 5:21 AM. http://themeridainitiative.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
160;The Mérida Initiative. Wednesday, March 13, 2013. Had a week of vacation time to burn off before the end of March, and we entertained the thought we might actually get away to Mérida for a break. Instead, it has turned out to be a working vacation. We're packing up and emptying our overstuffed house for the renovation that's actually going to start next week. The most important thing, perhaps, is the dogs like it. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The fox is loose in the henhouse. From ...

From the Snow to Mexico: November 2013
http://fromthesnowtomexico.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
From the Snow to Mexico. Saturday, November 30, 2013. We flew down on Thursday, American Thanksgiving, and you know what? Yesterday, Friday, was spent getting settled in. Neighbour Liz was going into Merida and asked if we wanted to join her. She had to stop at Scotiabank.was that ok? We also had to go to Scotiabank, to pay our fideicomiso. How lucky for us that we were able to take care of that our first day here! The evening was spent at Liz's, visiting and catching up over a few drinks. Our internet i...

From the Snow to Mexico: Finances and Food
http://fromthesnowtomexico.blogspot.com/2014/03/finances-and-food.html
From the Snow to Mexico. Wednesday, March 19, 2014. This morning we went and paid our property taxes. All 237 pesos (20.00 CDN) worth. The low cost never ceases to amaze us! After we paid, the cashier gave us a small form to fill out but we had no idea what we were supposed to do with it. So I handed it back to her and said, "Por favor? I forgot to post that we went to their all-you-can-eat fish and chips on Friday. I never order fish and chips back home because there's always twice as much batter as...

Messages sent back in time from an alternate time-line in which a free society has become reality. This isn't the only way a free society could work, but one of many. Tuesday, October 10, 2017. Charity, not theft and slavery. It's hard to imagine, but I've read that back during the barbaric. Era of government, people in need actually relied on government to steal money to pay for the things they needed, or to force people to provide those things at their own expense against their will! Fortunately, now e...

Dispatches from my head. Just another WordPress.com site. Posted November 1, 2010 by dispatchesfrommyhead. In my state of extreme procrastination I have spent the better half of today listening to songs that I haven’t listened to in AGGGEEESSSSS. I forgot how much I used to be obsessed with bands. I guess that happens when you grow up and realise that you have to spend your money filling up on gas rather than going to each and every concert that finds it’s way to NZ. Be the first to comment. They’r...
