Drifting In Central America: Day 194 :: La Pura Vida

http://driftingincentralamerica.blogspot.com/2007/08/day-194-la-pura-vida.html

Drifting In Central America. Day 194 : La Pura Vida. Day 194 - Santa Elena, COSTA RICA. Interesting fact #482: Costa Rica was the first place in the world to abolish it's army - which so far has spelled PEACE.]. Zip-lining through the jungle in Monteverde. On some lines, we hung 425 feet over the forest floor. Canyoning near Volcan Arenal in La Fortuna. Repelling 300 feet down through. I have to take issue with the "old People" remark! Drifting In Central America. Day 213 : The BEST OF List. Day 213 - Oaxaca, MEXICO. As we bear down on the world´s third largest city and our final destination, we have been making a ´best of´ from the last seven months. Enjoy. 1 Mexico City, Mexico. 2 Istanbul, Turkey. 3 Antalya, Turkey. 4 Pokhara, Nepal. 5 Hanoi, Vietnam. 1 Delhi, India. 2 Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. 3 San Salvador, El Salvador. 1 Sihanoukville, Cambodia. 2 Puerto Escondido, Mexico. 3 Bocas Del Toro, Panama. 4 Krabi, Thailand. 3 India - India.

Drifting In Central America. Day 206 : The Great (Central) American Road Trip. Day 206 - Puerto Escondido, MEXICO. Is really about is all that you missed - like a stop to gawk at the squeaky clean streets (and people) of Salt Lake City or a detour in Des Moines to search for Bill Bryson´s childhood home, among countless other sites. Yet as you sit on a beach near San Francisco, facing a disappearing sun, the lot you missed no longer really matters. And so it is with us. Day 201 : Not So Profound Questions.

Drifting In Central America: Day 198 :: Grossly Generalized Notes On Nationalities

http://driftingincentralamerica.blogspot.com/2007/08/day-198-grossly-generalized-notes-on.html

Drifting In Central America. Day 198 : Grossly Generalized Notes On Nationalities. Day 198 - San Juan Del Sur, NICARAGUA. Crossing the border from Costa Rica to Nicaragua echoed our passing from Thailand to Cambodia. Developing to Surviving. Decades of peace to a history of violence. Plump dogs to rib-cage-visible street scavengers. Recycling bins to trash-lined rivers. And much like Cambodia, we still love it.]. In China, our Aussie companion. In Vietnam, our LA crew. Yes, they actually lived up to thei...

Drifting in China: Day 6 :: Notes On Hong Kong

http://driftinginhongkong.blogspot.com/2007/02/day-6-mostly-false-notes-on-hong-kong.html

Day 6 : Notes On Hong Kong. Day 6 - HK/Lamma Island. Final notes on Hong Kong (after only four days, we have completely figured out the culture, ethos and people of Hong Kong):. Gameboys here are like iPods in America. They're loads of McDonalds and 7/11 stores here. Hasn't anyone told our friends here that slurpees died in the early 90's and that McDonalds is the new K-Mart? Cell phones here are like cell phones in America. More pictures can be found here. I love your pics! Especially the one of the apa...

Drifting in China: Day 9 :: East Meets West

http://driftinginhongkong.blogspot.com/2007/02/day-8-9-crimes.html

Day 9 : East Meets West. Day 8,9 - Hong Kong - Wuzhou - Guilin - Yongshuo. Did the government pay off these folks who were forced to uproot their homes made of tin and wood? It seems more and more that what we've read about China is actually happening - East and West are colliding every where you turn. (Can these cultures possibly live in harmony? I'm not sure what to make of it all, but I'm glad to be here, even though I'm most likely part of the problem. Good for you - for taking the blame.

On a warm LA night last October, six friends sat around a picnic table eating Thai food and making grand plans. Today, the six of us walked across the street and jumped into eighty degree water. Drifting in China: March 2007

http://driftinginhongkong.blogspot.com/2007_03_01_archive.html

Day 3 : It Has Begun. Day 3: Hong Kong. So we're sitting in a little room on the fifth floor of the Ling Do building on Hong Kong Island. It looks a little like one of those trailer classrooms that elementary schools build when they run out of space (except for the Chinese banners, the shoes for sale and the girl singing kareoke at the top of her lungs). Well, the internet clock is winding down and Kari just asked me if I dare her to sing kareoke. I better get out of here fast. Day 4: Hong Kong. They're ...

Drifting In Thailand: Day 77 :: Secluded Beaches

http://driftinginthailand.blogspot.com/2007/04/day-77-secluded-beaches.html

Day 77 : Secluded Beaches. Day 77 : Koh Samui. For the record: We haven't worn socks since China.]. Only 28 hours by bus from Chiang Mai is a little place called Railay Beach. It sits along the west side of Thailand on the Adaman Sea. The only way to get to these beaches is by a long boat; no land entrance exists. The sand is white, the water is aqua and the cliffs are breathtaking. You can even walk between Islands when the tide is out. This is where we've been for the last week. Back To Home Page.

http://driftingincambodia.blogspot.com/2007/05/day-85-epic-angkor-wat.html

Day 85 : EPIC Angkor Wat. Day 85: Siem Reap. Yesterday, after we walked across the border from Thailand to Cambodia, we got on a bus to the ruins of Angkor Wat. The distance is around 110 miles. It took 7 hours. I guess it was sort of like driving from LA to San Diego. Anyway. We fishtailed in mud, nearly ran over a motorbike and plowed through water that was knee deep. All that to bring you this video. :). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Back To Home Page. Currently in CENTRAL AMERICA.

Day 143 : Around Delhi. Day 143 - Delhi. We managed to take a few photos during our three days in Delhi - quite a different story than the beauty and serenity of Mcleod Ganj. Side street in Old Delhi:. Main Bazaar in Paharganj:. City Park Near New Delhi Train Staion:. A Few Families Lıved Here:. A few more can be seen here. Day 153 : Typical Turkey. Day 153 - Selcuk, Ephesus. We couldn't have been more wrong. This place actually is a desert oasis. The pool is a temperature perfect 75 degrees. The showers have hot water every hour of the day. The food is delicious. The staff constantly goes out of their way for guests. The rooms are tidy. And in the evening it's packed full of travelers. It just might be the best place we've stayed in over five months of traveling. Fountain (our room in background). Back to Home Page. Day 17...

Day 151 : Around Istanbul. Day 151 - Selcuk, Ephesus. Our five days in Istanbul were incredible. We visited most of the sites, took a day trip out to the Princes Islands, drank wine with other travelers on our hostel's rooftop terrace and ate meat for the first time since Thailand (we went vegetarian in Nepal and India). Fisherman on the Galata Bridge. Inside the Hagia Sofia. Our Hostel's Rooftop Terrace. A few more photo's of Istanbul, the Princes Islands and other sites can be seen here. TIME TO MOVE ON.

Los Angeles to the World. After a year of planning (and saving), we left on February 6, 2007 to backpack around the world. Drifting in Asia

A Sudden End to Travelling. May 18, 2015. May 18, 2015. It was a sunny afternoon and I was blissfully taking in the lush balinese scenery from the back of the moped that Finn was driving. We were riding from Amed, a small diving and fishing town on the east coast of Bali, to Denpasar, the southern capital. The road was windy and hilly and our rental bike had seen better days. The breaks seemed to be wearing down from all the hills. The view from the road. On our way out of the hospital. We collected the ...
