Wednesday, 9 March 2011. So not as easy as it sounds! So i tried out the wet folding technique and found it is A LOT harder than i thought. I think the main problem was that i had my heart set on being able to produce something as amazing as Richard Sweeney. This didn't really go as hoped! 65279;Even after experimenting with several models i couldn't create the shapes i was hoping for. Richard Sweeney obviously has a secret ingredient he's just not letting out! Here are a couple of my best attempts.

Sunday, 6 March 2011. Time for some action! Due to my lack of self managing my time adequately, I had a huge scare when I was informed of the changed deadline for our final sculpture, so was pretty relieved once it was moved back (phew). BUT now I am really cracking on with my idea's. I am also starting on task 2 at the same time just because time is running out! I am not sure if I will be using my final sculpture in the poster, as I am wanting to. Incorporate the text needed using paper. The one and only.

Is made from paper. Friday, 11 March 2011. Poster development - making. I prepared the paper just as I prepared the paper for the sculpture I made in task one, except I was going to be drawing on the design freehand, so I could stick the brown paper on first. Dont worry, i used a spray booth, not the mac lab desk :P. Neatening up the edges. I then drew on some birthday related illustrations to cut out of the numbers. Cutting the shapes out. Is made from paper. Sunday, 27 February 2011. In the second paper workshop we used slightly bigger sized pieces of paper, half of an a2 sheet I believe. We cut a2 sheets into two, vertically, so that we had two long and thin pieces of paper to work with; we then proceeded to draw a 1cm border around the long pieces of paper we had. David Carson is an American Graphic designer and typographer, who rose to fame in the 1990s as a result of his innovative work in magazine design and so-called 'grunge typography'. He was the art director for the magazine 'Ray Gun', an alternative-rock magazine based in California. The magazine was well known for its cutting edge and daring typographic design. Jun/july 1997 - blur. I really like the way the typography is so free and all over the place :).

Wednesday, 2 March 2011. I found a few structures and buildings that have all been formed around or resemble the shape of moving water such as waves. I really like the bench above as it takes a really similar form to some of the paper models i have made with its pleats creating curves. I also found the work below that has been produced using paper to create a waved appearence. I havent tried out this technique yet so i will have a go and see what shapes can be produced. They are pretty impressive hats, but you don't see many people walking down the street in them.
