Subscribe To Our Blog! Thursday, September 16, 2010. September 12th, Venetian Festival in Ludwigsburg. We LOVE Ludwigsburg, and so going to a fest there is easy. This one was great, the whole platz was gated and inside they had entertainers, music (mostly opera), food, people selling Venetian things, and face painting! There were literally about a hundred people dressed up in Venetian costumes just walking around and happy to have their picture taken with anyone. Masks, of course. View my complete profile.

It is only about four and a half hours away, so very easy to drive to. We had a bunch of Marriott points from our time there when we moved to Germany, so we used some points and stayed right downtown and enjoyed every minute. Subscribe To Our Blog! Friday, July 31, 2009. July 17 and 18, Dresden, Germany. Dresden is now one of our top cities. We loved it. Dresden was destroyed in WWII. It took a very long time for the city to return to it's former glory. It is not yet the tourist destination that we know it will be one day. Most of the tourists were Europeans, and mostly Germans. The Catholic Cathedral of Dresden, Hofkirche. A communist mural on the side of the soviet built Palace of Culture. The altar in the Frauenkirche.
