Le Jardin de la France". A blog to document my travels in Europe. A blog to document my travels in Europe. Friday, January 28, 2011. Last weekend we all went to a woman's home for French cooking lessons. Beatrice, our lovely host, taught us how to make a uniquely French salad, duck entree, and chocolate cake. We were also shown how to properly decorate the table with fresh flowers, coordinate seat arrangements, and host a dinner. I can't wait to put her advice into practice at home! My friend, Kara.

Le Jardin de la France". A blog to document my travels in Europe. A blog to document my travels in Europe. Monday, March 28, 2011. It's been exactly two months since I last posted. How does this happen? In the last two months I've spent countless days in Tours- I now consider this adorable city my second home- and have traveled throughout the Loire Valley multiple times, to Spain, London, Dublin, Amsterdam, the South of France, and Paris. Below are several photos of all three locations. I found a friend!

A Year in Japan in 100 Stories.

A Year in Japan in 100 Stories. Back in 2011 I went on one of the greatest adventures of my life. As part of my anthropology undergraduate I went to study in Tokyo for a year, I had never been to Japan before and had never been away from home for that long before either. I was expecting to be terrified, but at worst I was nervous. I don’d foresee there being much in the way of a definite order or structure to start with. I intend to experiment with a few things and see what works. But I hop...You are com...

Emily in Tonga

The life of a Peace Corps volunteer from Illinois in the Island Kingdom of Tonga. Sunday, August 31, 2008. I see that it's been about 4 months since I've written on here so I should probably write a long update post. Instead I'm just going to share a moment on my walk home this evening. This country is so green and.alive. Anyway, this ...

Just another WordPress.com weblog. Posted by Emily in Uncategorized. I want to fight that battle right along side this beautiful Ugandan woman, but I think God has other plans for my life. Isn’t specialization just so difficult? Going back to school is gonna be rough! Pray that I would just savor the everyday moments as I say goodbye to this beautiful place that I have come to call home and these beautiful people who have become family.
