I decided to take a picture with my own bike to show the difference in the contrast in size. the sv650 is 2045mm compared to the 500mm on the mini bike. I like the picture of the 2 bikes showing the contrast. Petrol tank with added sound effects. November 5, 2013. After a lab we decided to make a video to show the tank in action. We added in our own sound effects to give life to the video.

Welds had to be ground down to a smooth finish. Filler with car filler, heated dry, sanded, re- filled, sanded until all the welds were smooth. Primer sanded for paint to get grip. December 5, 2013. The shields for the handle bars where an experiment in itself, i got a 65mm bar from the store room and used the gas torch to heat the sheet metal, when it was cherry red i used the copper tipped hammer to beat it around the radius of the bar, i then repeated this on the other side to give me an equal curve around. Tank sanded and filled.

The origional idea i had for my bike was to use a batman theme. When i watched the dark knight movie i had instantly thought of this project. I think there is something about the concept of the bike that strikes the spectators. Instead of the origional style, the driver will lean aross the bike, using the tank as a body rest! December 4, 2013. The part I am most happy with about my bike is the Tank/ seat. To match the covering I initially planned to pant the tank a gloss black colour but seeing some of the other tanks in the product design lab I thought a mist of purple paint would look really nice. December 4, 2013. Covering with the rash vest. The frame was completed and it was time to cover it with the rash vest material. For the front part of the bike I found the back central section of the rash vest actually fitted the frame perfectly and only had to be sown along the existing seam which was a bonus. The back section posed a bit more trou ble but the front central section plus a small bit of the arm section covered it nicely and it all turned out very well. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

It was important to get the back axle aligned straight so to do this I welded on one of the mounts first then stuck a welding rod through it and the second mound. December 4, 2013. I have finished the bike now and I must say I am very happy with how it turned out. The rash vest covering turned out brilliantly but I am most happy with the tank. If I was to change some things I would remake the handle bars so that the bar wouldn’t kink to do this I would use the hydraulic pipe benders as it would get a smoother bend.
