Where life and creativity collide in the kitchen. 2014: Eatin Elephants, Week 2, Day 1. I rarely stop to snap a pic on a run, but I was stuck at a light and wanted to have somethin to pull up in the future to remind myself when runs feel less like awesome and more like purgatory. Cheatin’ Chili | foodandthefury
https://foodandthefury.wordpress.com/2013/11/16/cheatin-chili
Where life and creativity collide in the kitchen. Both my parents were committed to excellence and instilled in us a pride for our work, and to find satisfaction in a job well done. Once this fundamental was learned, we grew to understand what it meant to make opportunities for yourself, see a little further down the road and build out to that. So when I asked for her amazing chili recipe, against which all other chilis are found lacking, it shouldn’t have surprised me when she said,. Now, like my mom, I...
Kitchen Travels | foodandthefury
https://foodandthefury.wordpress.com/2014/09/10/kitchen-travels
Where life and creativity collide in the kitchen. In my travels throughout the Middle East and North Africa, a dish I always loved was zataar. It’s a dip made from oregano, sumac, thyme, sesame seeds, and olive oil eaten on bread, often with a nice spread of freshly made #lebneh, if you happen to have a Lebanese friend and are very hungry. But this is the #paleodiet version-for those who need/want to avoid grains and dairy! I also added some turmeric for an extra kick of color and health! You are comment...
Part Time Paleo…Moving Forward | foodandthefury
https://foodandthefury.wordpress.com/2013/10/13/part-time-paleo-moving-forward
Where life and creativity collide in the kitchen. Part Time Paleo…Moving Forward. Since I wrote I was going to start Goal lists, I’ve felt a lot more grown up. As in life isn’t as fun. But I am getting more efficient. For example, I actually purchased and hung a paper towel rack:. Yeah, that’s right, that happened. On my list of long term goals is lose 35 lbs. By next July, I might add. Why am I telling you? The belly fat to show for this habit. So now I often pack dinner to take to work too, so I ca...

Where life and creativity collide in the kitchen. A Month in Review–Going Against the Grain. Recipes for chili and butternut squash bisque coming soon. But first, it’s been a month since I committed to making goals–monthly, weekly, and daily lists to move myself closer to good health, increased productivity, and to actually accomplish at least some of the dreams welling inside. The first month I committed myself to self-awareness: Focusing on nutrition and choices, I attempted the following:. I do miss f...

Red Rock World: July 2014
http://redrockworld.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Whirlwind Month in Pics. A whirlwind past few weeks. Giddy in fact, not to mention that it was way up high above the treeline. High-altitude.my bliss. No ball-busting paces and still no techy singletrack but some epic rides/views nevertheless. I've even found some doubletrack worthy of praise! Still a long way to go, still no running (sigh), still being very cautious, and perhaps never hit hard efforts again. Butsummertime keeps ya dreaming, keeps stoke alive, esp that Rocky Mountain high. Trans-Andes (P...

Makin' Lemonade Outta Injury/Recovery. Well, knee surgery has come and gone. I was on the bike the very next morning. Of course it was just a stationary trainer at the phys therapist's office, but I was surprised (and excited, and scared) that they'd wanted me on it so quickly. Seven whole minutes. I was pretty optimistic the first week. Although they can't help when it comes down to my impatience, my "wear and tear" and now travelling again. Keep having to remind myself of that! And headed back to Color...

Food and the Fury. Tuesday, November 22, 2011. SoIn keeping with my last post. Welcome to the world Isak Dylan. I also found out my dog Tripoli died. I was so sad. Devastated, really. Food will not define me forever
Monday, May 14, 2012. So when people disappear from healthy living blogs, it's generally not because they're out there just living on the healthy straight and narrow. This is true of me too. Since I last blogged, I've gained a significant amount of weight and am now north of 250 again. It is frustrating. It is a result of my actions, obviously, but it is frustrating. So, last week I knew it was time. Time to exercise again. Time to get going on living a healthy life. At 252 I joined Weight Wa...I have be...
