Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. January 5, 2013. I realise autumn has been and gone and I never got round to posting the final instalment of my test shoot with the marvellous Kim. I have been far too lazy over Christmas to write anything, I will endeavour to do more in 2013. Our last shot of the day was a pleasant surprise. I’m not overly keen on cooked fruit, I prefer it raw and beautifully ripe, but these gorgeously succulent plums won me over. Poached plums with spiced vanilla syrup.

The Life of Rowan | Sifting and Sowing

https://siftingandsowing.wordpress.com/2013/09/15/the-life-of-rowan

Cooking and (hopefully) Growing. The Life of Rowan. September 15, 2013. Rowan trees are everywhere. I didn’t know what they were until my mum pointed them out to me this year and now I can’t stop seeing them all over the place. This is what they look like:. When I was last at home I set to making some Rowan jelly, but you could use the berries in a jam with some other fruits or perhaps to infuse some vodka, like in this damson gin. A little video to show you just how simple: . Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Damson Gin and Jam | Sifting and Sowing

Cooking and (hopefully) Growing. Slow Roasted Beetroot on Toast. Quick Sausage, Tomato and Chilli Pasta →. Damson Gin and Jam. September 25, 2011. This seems incredibly simple and I’m yet to know how rewarding as there is a waiting game of at least three months while the damsons infuse, sounds like it’ll be ready just in time to tackle the January blues. Once ready you need to strain the gin through a sieve lined with muslin cloth, discard the damsons and bottle the liquid. Drink as and when. Place the d...

Cooking and (hopefully) Growing. The Garden got Planted. The Life of Rowan →. June 6, 2013. This is pretty much a panzanella – I didn’t have any stale bread so instead made croutons from some nice fresh bread and then added a couple of extra ingredients. A simple, quick and easy lunch best enjoyed outside. 1 thick cut slice bread, cut into cubes. A pinch each of chilli flakes, caraway seeds and dried oregano. 1 tablespoon of olive oil. 200g cherry tomatoes, halved. 1/2 red onion, diced. You are commentin...

Cooking and (hopefully) Growing. Newer posts →. Battle of the Burgers. November 13, 2012. I almost forgot that I pretty much started this year waxing lyrical about the Meat Liquor. Burger, I had plans to keep ranting about burgers up and down the country, but so far I think I’ve only managed about three more in London and one in New York (oooh). I was quite obsessed with Meat Liquor for a while and it kept drawing me back. I can’t say the same for the Lucky Chip. Next is Burger Joint. November 9, 2012.

Food Comes First!

Sunday, November 12, 2006. Used more veggies in my box today - leeks, carrots, shallots and butternut squash. I wanted to have the squash for lunch but couldn't decide how to cook it, so i thought i'd chuck a few other veggies in and make a soup! Topped it with freshly grated parmesan, ands it made for a very filling lunch. (with some leftover). These are my rough estimates, it doesn't really matter how much you use of each - add more veggies if you want). 1/2 a butternut squash, cubed. 1/2 a leek, sliced.
