Where is my next adventure? Thaipusam – sacrifice at every step. Singapore is a city with multicultural diversity and during the full moon of the 10th Tamil month, called Thai, the traditional festival, Thaipusam is held. The festival is celebrated in honour of Lord Subramaniam (also known as Lord Murugan), who represents virtue, youth and power, and is the destroyer of evil. I followed the devotees along the way from the Sri Thendayuthapani Temple to Sri Mariamman Temple, Singapore’s oldest Hindu ...

Where is my next adventure? Arriving on Maafushivaru after a 25 min seaplane ride from Male we were dropped off in the middle of the sea on a pontoon. A Dhoni (traditional Maldivian boat) was ready to pick us up and at the Island we were surrounded by friendly staff handing out ice-cold face towels and a color-full refreshing Welcome drink. Shoeless in the sand and with our snorkelling/diving equipment in our bags we were ready to celebrate Christmas. Maafushivaru is located on the southern tip of the Ar...

Where is my next adventure? What happens in Bangkok. And the continuation could easy have been stays in Bangkok! But our New Year’s eve did not get that crazy. Bangkok is known to have some of the best night scenes in Asia. For anyone that like party, there is a lot to choose from of neon-lit clubs and bars with cheap alcohol. We welcomed 2016 reaching for the stars at the Dome sipping Champagne at Flute A Perrier-Jouët Champagne bar with an amazing view and fantastic atmosphere. Our new found friend...

Where is my next adventure? Dandong – North Koreas’s gateway to the world. Technically I have had my feet in North Korea and I have swept in and out of North Korean waters. The famous Yibukua “one step across” near the entrance, marks a narrow point in the river between North Korea and China. Though it almost seem as if you could just hop the fence and be in the North Korea, It’s not something I would try out as there are armed soldiers hiding on the other side. On my way to the Hekou Broken Bridge I too...

From Here to Middlemarch
From Here to Middlemarch. Saturday, January 24, 2015. A book may not tell us exactly how to live our own lives, but our own lives can teach us how to read a book.". From Here to Middlemarch. Mead is talking about reading Middlemarch. As a stepmother, but I find this a great quote about the experience of reading Victorian novels as a gay man in the 21st century, when I sometimes struggle to see myself represented. There are so many truths and so much compassion for humanity in Middlemarch. Two days ago...

From Here To Motherhood | The journey is longer than I had expected, but hopefully I'll reach the destination.
From Here To Motherhood. The journey is longer than I had expected, but hopefully I'll reach the destination. I Should . . . I mean, there is no such thing as perfect parenting and you can’t do it all. And just because something worked for one baby does not mean it will work for mine. But knowing that what I do now shapes L’s future is a very heavy responsibility. It is a responsibility that I want, very much, but it can be overwhelming, especially for a person like me. My Experience with PPD. I previous...

Moving to a new place. Nothing against Blogger, but I've decided to move my blog over to Tumblr. Check it out! Created a miniature cityscape using 100,000 standard staples. It is called Ephemicropolis. And the creation took 40 hours. Crazy thing is that this is a temporary installation, and some janitor will eventually have to come by and sweep this up. Watch the 'making of' video (with cool timelapse) here. Some like it hot.and dimensional. I have been a long time fan of Colorado-based artist Evan Hecox.

Saturday, May 11, 2013. I got a new tattoo recently, and its the first one I've had done that holds real significance to me. My second tattoo I got when I was 21. From Here to Paris
So, one of my husband's favorite snacks is chips and salsa. My husband is also. One of those guys who can polish off a truckload of food and have nothing to show for it. He usually goes for the fresh salsa in the refrigerator section at the grocery store. Guys, have you seen. The price of that salsa in the refrigerator section? Let me tell you, it's usually too much. It's hard to justify paying at least four dollars for a little tub of salsa, especially if my husband can polish it off in a few minutes.

Come with me as I travel around northern California and Europe, capturing the beauty in oil and water color. I divide my time between my home in Sausalito, California and my 1925 Dutch barge, exploring the rivers and canals of France. The beauty of these wonderful places is sometimes just plain overwhelming. I've tried with my brushes to grab those moments in time and those feelings of incredible beauty in oil and water color. The stories are just for fun. Hope you enjoy them and thanks for looking,.
