From Here to Paris

So, one of my husband's favorite snacks is chips and salsa. My husband is also. One of those guys who can polish off a truckload of food and have nothing to show for it. He usually goes for the fresh salsa in the refrigerator section at the grocery store. Guys, have you seen. The price of that salsa in the refrigerator section? Let me tell you, it's usually too much. It's hard to justify paying at least four dollars for a little tub of salsa, especially if my husband can polish it off in a few minutes.

Grandma's Lemon Poppy Seed Cake. This is one of the most popular recipes in our family. Our Grandma Viola made this cake for special occasions and it was always a hit. Makes one bundt cake. 1 package lemon cake mix. 1 package instant vanilla pudding. 1 cup sour cream. 1 1/2 tsp vanilla. 1/2 cup melted butter. 4 Tbs poppy seeds. We're th...

Killer Chocolate Chip Cookies. This is one of my tried and true recipes I always fall to when I need to make a quick treat for a neighbor or to take to the group of teenagers I teach. Make sure to have good quality butter and chocolate chips. I highly recommend Guittard milk chocolate chips and you won’t go wrong with this recipe! Killer Chocolate Chip Cookies. From Here to Paris: Mango Lemonade

http://www.fromheretoparis.com/2013/05/mango-lemonade.html

Three years ago almost to the day, we left for Germany to start my husband's internship. Around this time of year, I always get the worst travel bug and have to stop myself from randomly purchasing tickets to go back to Europe. It's torture to even look! So I always find myself thinking of Germany in the late spring and summer, because those are some of our best memories. I've been thinking about Germany, too, because it has been hot. That thermometer was on the wall in our kitchen. So hot! I don't want ...

We created this blog because we love cooking and we love our hometown. I am the oldest of the three sisters and recently married a great guy! My husband and I have three horses (Bear, Chamber, and Little Joe), a dog (Gage) and a cat (Mr. Kitty) that keep us busy! I have been married for almost 12 years to the sweetest guy ever! From Here to Paris: Valentine Marshmallow Popcorn

http://www.fromheretoparis.com/2014/02/valentine-marshmallow-popcorn.html

Growing up in Paris, we were so fortunate to have a bunch of cousins who lived close by. Every Valentine's Day we would make some kind of homemade treat and take it around to each other. It usually involved sugar cookies and Aunt Janelle's famous popcorn balls! I decided to whip up a batch of this yummy goodness and take it around to the family I have living close to me. It is incredibly easy and fast to make. You will love it, and so will your favorite Valentine. 16 cups of popped corn. 1 1/2 cups sugar.

The New York Minute: April 2015

http://borfam.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

The New York Minute. Monday, April 27, 2015. I did a glow run with some friends from church. The atmosphere was a lot of fun and it was cool to see a stream of glowing lights moving through the darkness. BUT it was also NOT great not being able to see were you were stepping. my friend really hurt her ankle, and i saw someone else fall over. jury is undecided if i would do it again. maybe with a headlamp. We were almost back to the car when i spotted a park, b and c were happy to go and play. We've been g...

The New York Minute: March 2015

The New York Minute. Sunday, March 22, 2015. The kids started school. I don't know who was more nervous- me or them. They have all adjusted fairly well-some of them making friends a little more quickly than others. The first day G and J were suppose to start, G woke up with an upset stomach, so she went alone. G threw up 3 times that day, had a recoup day the following day, then went to school Wednesday. We drove to the top of the local mountain range by us. 10,800 feet. amazing views. Living Life One Day at a Time! Saturday, October 4, 2014. Due to the warm 80 degree fall weather lately, we decided to go spend an afternoon at Oxbow Park which is pretty close to our house. Elli really had a blast throwing rocks into the river. And as she was running away from us she suddenly stopped because she saw some deer up close! She loves the outdoors so much we had to drag her away as you can see! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Wrapping up the year 2012! Alyssa and Ben Owen.

From Here to Middlemarch

From Here to Middlemarch. Saturday, January 24, 2015. A book may not tell us exactly how to live our own lives, but our own lives can teach us how to read a book.". From Here to Middlemarch. Mead is talking about reading Middlemarch. As a stepmother, but I find this a great quote about the experience of reading Victorian novels as a gay man in the 21st century, when I sometimes struggle to see myself represented. There are so many truths and so much compassion for humanity in Middlemarch. Two days ago&#4...

From Here To Motherhood. The journey is longer than I had expected, but hopefully I'll reach the destination. I Should . . . I mean, there is no such thing as perfect parenting and you can’t do it all. And just because something worked for one baby does not mean it will work for mine. From Here To Nocturnity

Moving to a new place. Nothing against Blogger, but I've decided to move my blog over to Tumblr. Check it out! Created a miniature cityscape using 100,000 standard staples. It is called Ephemicropolis. And the creation took 40 hours. Crazy thing is that this is a temporary installation, and some janitor will eventually have to come by and sweep this up. Watch the 'making of' video (with cool timelapse) here. Some like it hot.and dimensional. I have been a long time fan of Colorado-based artist Evan Hecox.

Come with me as I travel around northern California and Europe, capturing the beauty in oil and water color. I divide my time between my home in Sausalito, California and my 1925 Dutch barge, exploring the rivers and canals of France. The beauty of these wonderful places is sometimes just plain overwhelming. I've tried with my brushes to grab those moments in time and those feelings of incredible beauty in oil and water color. The stories are just for fun. Hope you enjoy them and thanks for looking,.
