Saturday, 9 February 2013. Posted by Gus Armstrong. Sunday, 2 December 2012. My approach for this shot was to reveal what the subject likes. Cats. So I referenced the technique used by anime artists to show that the subject is looking at something cute. They always put two catchlights in the eyes, either horizontally or vertically, I chose vertically so my lighting would be of the hollywood style from straight above and below. Tuesday, 28 August 2012. One softbox and used a piece of timber to create the black 'gap' in the light. Two lights at the correct angles was too hard and this seemed like the obvious decision. Ran out of time to be able to correct exposures. Screen overexposed and lights not bright enough. Super christmas, very hard object to shoot because of its gloss surface. Two softboxes. Thursday, 18 October 2012. Pretty simple with pete, i dont know why this is underlining blue, but very simple rembrandt style lighting, having the flash at least a foot above his head height. The flash had a small shoot through umbrella on it. Hes not a model so i didnt need to worry about filling shadows or anything. Flash connected wirelessly to camera so I can move freely. Technology - Second Year

Technology - Second Year. Wednesday, 15 May 2013. I selected Ilford Gallerie gloss and matte papers and used the Canon 5250 printer to perform my calibration on. I thought the gloss paper had an obvious increase in saturation and brightness across the whole image and it is this image which I printed for the final ringaround probably because of that reason. The following are screen shots of my workflow with a screen capture of the over layed gamuts in colorsync. Adobe RGB overlayed on Ilford Gloss profile.
