A Brief History of Hawaii and the Hamakua Coast. The Pre-historic Hamakua Coast: Circa 750AD to 1778. The terrain was rough, and much of the coast was difficult to traverse, even through the early 20th century, so it is not surprising that part of the ancient trail (alaloa) that crossed the valleys and ridges and was one of the few connections between the different moku in Hamakua is now the main street through Honokaa town. CELEBRATING INDIANA'S LANDMARK SPANS. This fine example of a Filled-Spandrel Arch has crossed Martindale Creek in Wayne County since 1912. Built in 1887 by the Smith Bridge Company, this Howe Truss span crosses Salt Creek near the Hamlet of Enochsburg in Franklin County.
