Jacob and Carrie :: NowHere: To My Daughters on My Birthday
http://jacobandcarrie.blogspot.com/2015/03/to-my-daughters-on-my-birthday.html
Mar 9, 2015. To My Daughters on My Birthday. I wrote this yesterday. on my birthday and on International Women's Day. I'm posting it a day late, but it was my birthday and I can do what I want to. Or something like that. They are the best part of being 33. 💛. A photo posted by Carrie (@carriemckean) on. Mar 8, 2015 at 6:15pm PDT. To be honest, to say I love you seems small… like it can only dance around the edges of what I feel. Have you ever watched a time-elapsed video of a flower blooming? And I want...
Jacob and Carrie :: NowHere: Ordinary Holiness
http://jacobandcarrie.blogspot.com/2015/04/ordinary-holiness.html
Apr 4, 2015. I had so many plans for this Holy Week. Maundy Thursday and Good Friday services with my church family; an Easter Egg hunt with my biggest little and her preschool class. I had a full calendar partially because my husband is in an incredibly busy (and what I think is insane) season of work – he leaves every day before dawn and comes home well after the girls are in bed… 7 days a week for the last two weeks and possibly for the next six. That she’d “feel better tomorrow.”. I’m looking f...
Jacob and Carrie :: NowHere: Out of the Darkness
http://jacobandcarrie.blogspot.com/2015/02/out-of-darkness.html
Feb 27, 2015. Out of the Darkness. I don’t think I will ever be the mom who believes God’s original and best plan for my daughter was for her to be in my home. She came out of anesthesia kicking and screaming… holding her breath without ever opening her eyes, she stiffened and clawed and then gasped and screamed. Then she’d hold her breath all over again and do the whole cycle once more. She was clearly fighting to wake up. 8220;It’s normal,”. 8220;Just keep holding her,”. Friday, February 27, 2015.
Jacob and Carrie :: NowHere: Love is War
http://jacobandcarrie.blogspot.com/2014/09/love-is-war.html
Sep 3, 2014. I bark the words, cringing at the harshness ringing the edges even as they come spilling out. Alea is unphased, and her fussing continues unabated, but Cora pipes up. 8220;Mama, be nice.”. 8220;You’re right, I’m sorry. I just feel a little tired because Alea has been fussing all day long.”. I sigh, feeling like a failure again. The critical voice inside pipes up,. 8220;Did you make a bad choice, Mama? 8220;Yes, Cora, I made a bad choice. I need to use kind words, don’t I? My Blog by Topic.
Jacob and Carrie :: NowHere: Something
http://jacobandcarrie.blogspot.com/2015/05/something.html
May 29, 2015. It's been different and sometimes random, but there's always been "something." Something that gave me a sense of identity and worth. That was never "something" for me. From the moment I became a mother 4 years ago, I've loved being a mama and watching my girls grow and change. But if I'm honest, I never felt like it was enough to make my existence worthwhile. My business partner/SIL, Eileen, and I are so thrilled to have found such a lovely family to take over! Friday, May 29, 2015. My Hear...

My Journey Toward Haiti: June 2011
http://charlenejane-myjourneytowardhaiti.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
My Journey Toward Haiti. Saturday, June 25, 2011. What a fun day of shopping! The Baptist Mission (which is about half way between GLA and Fort Jacques) hosts both an indoor and an outdoor market. Inside there is a restaurant, gift shop, and flower shop. Outside, (mostly) foreign shoppers barter with local vendors for the best prices. Bartering can be a little overwhelming, as the vendors are quite convincing and you really have to set firm boundaries and stick to them (not my forte). I’ve been put...

The story of a young, married couple leaving behind the excitement of national politics for life in a small town. Friday, July 24, 2009. Show Us Your Life Fridays. So today over at Kelly's Korner. I bought my wedding dress while I still lived in D.C. My mom flew up and we found it in one day. I must admit it is a little strange posting pictures of myself.by myself.on my own blog. If I had more of my wedding pics, I would post them too. Wednesday, July 22, 2009. Monday, July 20, 2009. Or super crazy. ...

Our Journey to Bring Our Son Home . . . July 25, 2009. We are a family of five! Brett continues to be a happy, healthy little boy. Actually, he is a good size three year old by American standards. The doctors have all been impressed with his health and strength (Thank you New Day! July 9, 2009. We spent our last day in China exploring the "real" China off the island. We strolled through a pet and medicinal market filled with unknown and exotic scents, sounds, and sights. You could purchase any an...To be...

Our Journey to Bring Our Son Home . . . February 28, 2009. Aunt Jen, I think Brett is ready for Wisconsin! Today, we received an update on Brett. I think I used up half of a box of tissues trying to read the one paragraph description. Update from New Day:. We hope this note finds you doing well, and that you enjoy reading this month's update. Brett is 2 Years 10 Months Old. Brett's nanny wrote this update:. Needless to say, I wanted to jump on an airplane and yell, "Mommy's coming! By God's very own hands.

My Journey Toward Haiti: April 2011
http://charlenejane-myjourneytowardhaiti.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
My Journey Toward Haiti. Tuesday, April 26, 2011. So, About Haiti. If you’ve known me for any amount of time, or you’ve dug around on my sidebar, you know that I’m passionate about orphan care and adoption. I read everything I can get my hands on about orphanage models, domestic and transracial adoption, attachment disorders, children from “hard places”, and the list goes on. No, I’m not thinking of bringing home a child any time soon, and ideally not until I’m married (don’t worry, Mom). So, about Haiti.

My Journey Toward Haiti: July 2011
http://charlenejane-myjourneytowardhaiti.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
My Journey Toward Haiti. Wednesday, July 6, 2011. Those of you who told me the hardest part of my trip would be leaving to come home were absolutely right. Saying goodbye to my new friends (the volunteers and staff), and especially to the babies, was very emotional. I will no doubt write more on this later, when I am better rested. I'll also post some pictures of the route from GLA to the Port-au-Prince airport. I am so thankful for an amazing experience in Haiti, and also thankful to be home. Although I...

The Collier Bunch: Home One Week
http://thecollierbunch.blogspot.com/2015/05/home-one-week.html
Follow the Collier Family including our adoption journey. Saturday, May 23, 2015. One week ago today we made it home after a brief stop in Atlanta to get the girls back. The ride home was uneventful. Joshua was a very good passenger most of the trip. This past week has been a mix of progress and frustrations. The girls have been great helpers with him. They have really taken him in and loved him. Shaun is adjusting to having a new brother and they play well together most of the time. We created this blog...
Being the Bakers: May 2011
http://beingthebakers.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 11, 2011. Do you see what I see? My guess is probably not. For instance here, you'll see my beautiful baby girl on the day she turned 11 months old. May 2, 2011. 65279;But I see something more along these lines (at least when I'm not wearing glasses or contacts). It's the best representation I could make, but in reality, I wouldn't even be able to tell that she has eyes or a mouth. Crazy, right? Posted by Sena Baker. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). It was a Dark and Stormy Night
It was a Dark and Stormy Night. Tuesday, May 1, 2007. Interesting fact in regards to ministry and "work/life" balance:. When I wasn't working regularly, I volunteered much of my time to ministry, giving whatever I could to my church. Nothing wrong there, but what I have seen over the last eight months is this- I am more fruitful in ministry when I am fruitful in my work life. Though I have less time to give, I understand now how valuable my time is, and give it with a sense of import. Episode 1: they meet.
