Even when no roads exist, sometimes the only practical way to transport a larger motorized vehicle to a remote location is to drive it. In order to do this, a suitable drivable surface must exist. Voran Clan Adventures: September 2010
http://voranclanadventures.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Where we've been. Where we're going. September 20, 2010. The highlight of guiding with the float-plane this summer was being able to bring my son along with me on a trip to Twin Lakes to see and explore the famed cabin of Dick Proeneke. Dick built his cabin almost entirely with materials from the surrounding landscape, and built purely by hand. The weather was perfect and the fall colors were awesome. Hillside above Twin Lakes. Some of the hand tools used. Lake Clark National Park. September 12, 2010.

Voran Clan Adventures: October 2010
http://voranclanadventures.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Where we've been. Where we're going. October 31, 2010. The Dark Side of Indoor Track Meets. This time of year as the mercury begins to plummet, and the daylight starts to diminish, it becomes a challenge to find more activities indoors after the day is gone. After finishing carving pumpkins for our porch, we had some fun drawing with light! The kids enjoyed taking turns and enjoyed seeing the end result. Family of Jack 'O Lanterns. Ghost in the Darkness. Voran Clan Adventures: February 2012
http://voranclanadventures.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Where we've been. Where we're going. February 08, 2012. No street lights and very few porch lights combined with an starless sky makes the night black, pitch black. When the sun sets at 3:40 in the afternoon and you get out of school at 3:15, sledding during daylight hours becomes limited. The result of limited sledding time is restless kids more than willing to turn on the wii or begging to watch a movie instead of playing outside in the dark. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Voran Clan Adventures: Settin' the Woods on Fire
http://voranclanadventures.blogspot.com/2012/03/settin-woods-on-fire.html
Where we've been. Where we're going. March 28, 2012. Settin' the Woods on Fire. The Spring sun has already diminished the snow quality and depth, which has put an end to the serious wood hauling for the winter, but next year you can bet the saws will be sharp, the snowmachines gased up, and we'll be out in the woods harvesting what we can.
