JanKnit: January 2009
http://jan-knit.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Knitting and other stuff that doesn't really matter, except to me. Wednesday, January 28, 2009. Latte was way overdue for a new sweater. I was overdue for a Kool-Aid dyeing experiment. Here's what we both ended up with. Latte is a sweet little Miniature Poodle who adopted me almost ten years ago. She's all happy to be snuggled in her new wool sweater! Some buttery-soft, butter-colored lambswool recycled from a commercial sweater in a DK weight. From SNB Nation in size medium. It's trimmed with a bit ...

Knitting and other stuff that doesn't really matter, except to me. Sunday, August 02, 2009. Down to Earth Socks. This has been a great project. Often I have design ideas that look wonderful in my mind's eye, then in reality just don't match up. This is one those rare times when it actually comes out as planned! And here are a few close-ups of the detail. Legs : Grass - - - - Water - - - - Cloudy Sky - - - -. Ankles: Soil - - - - Grass - - - -. Toes: Rocks - - - - Soil - - - - Grass - - - -. I must admit,...

Knitting and other stuff that doesn't really matter, except to me. Tuesday, March 17, 2009. Happy St. Patrick's Day. Sunday, March 01, 2009. I have a love-hate relationship with Noro yarns. Love: the colors! The long repeats of beautifully intense shades are to die for. Hate: the knots! I have been disappointed several times with knots tied in the middle of the skein connecting non-sequential colors. Boo! This time, however, I was delighted to get a whole skein with ZERO knots! The Morning Surf Scarf.

Knitting and other stuff that doesn't really matter, except to me. Friday, July 31, 2009. It's not hard when they are as fresh as these! Check out your local Farmer's Market and veg out! Here is a super-easy refreshing summer salad to try.we love it! Take chunks of ripe tomatoes, slices of crunchy cucumber, chopped green onions and toss them with Balsamic vinegar, a bit of sea salt, and a generous sprinkle of dill weed (or fresh chopped baby dill, if you have it.). My knitting and thoughts about living in Alaska. Sunday, July 5, 2009. We're enjoying the sun, the warmth and the civilization in California. We've been here almlost a week and we've had tons of fun so far with much more to come. I've taken some pictures with my camera, but all the Disneyland pictures were taken with the kids' cameras. And I haven't found the cords for them yet, so that's sad I can't share those pictures yet. Something I can't do in Alaska - stand in the surf. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
Stitch Therapy: November 2007
http://stitch-therapy.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html
Friday, November 30, 2007. I hate being sick. It really sucks. I haven't much been in the mood for anything. I have been knitting a little, but really not a whole lot. I mean out of the whole last week, I've done barely anything. And no spinning. I don't even have a bobbin on the wheel. That's more due to the fact I can't decide what I want to spin. I have to pack up my last secret pals box. It's all here, just not in the box.and then I can mail it and wait to see how she likes it! I have almost gotten p...

Thursday, September 27, 2007. It's also not quite as shiny as it is in this picture. It has silk in it though, so that's probably why it looks that way. I'm so excited to finish this one! Ok so tonight, while listening to Lime and Violet. Here is the little pile of what's left for the other half and then I will ply! I also starting spinning another bobbin but it's not of the pink merino. I was just getting toooo tired of the pink, I needed a break. I have plans to get more bobbins though so it's ...This ...

My knitting and thoughts about living in Alaska. Monday, November 14, 2011. It's been a very long time since I've posted, but I feel like I need to start again. So to start off I'm going to tell you about my friend Crystal. Her dog ran away a couple weeks ago and when he was found he was in pretty bad shape and had to have surgery. Well we know surgery is expensive and the cost of his surgery was jaw-dropping! Crystal is a fabulous photographer and is selling these calendars. Jen over at Homemade by Jen.
My Northern Nights: Back home
http://knittymel.blogspot.com/2009/09/back-home.html
My knitting and thoughts about living in Alaska. Saturday, September 12, 2009. We've been home for a few days now from our Super Vacation in California. The kids are happy to be back to school and settling in nicely. And I'm in the process of unpacking (and we all know how fun that can be, right? Fast forward to today - about a month later - and I have gained 5.5 lbs! I guess all that Starbucks wasn't so good to me (but it felt so good going down.). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). My knitting and thoughts about living in Alaska. Wednesday, September 30, 2009. Isn't he the best? He really is, he's the best. :). Sometimes I have to remind myself that many of the people doing projects like this on flickr have Photoshop and do a lot of post processing to add textures and do all kinds of fun stuff to their pictures. I don't have Photoshop, so I can just do the basic B&W, Sepia, antique settings. Monday, September 14, 2009. It was a productive day :). I have been thinking about maybe jo...
My Northern Nights: December 2008
http://knittymel.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
My knitting and thoughts about living in Alaska. Sunday, December 21, 2008. We're supposed to be leaving tomorrow afternoon for NC to spend the holidays. Today the flights out were cancelled (yes all of them - there are usually 3 I think), and now I'm worried about tomorrow. Will there be ice? I hate snow, I hate the freezing cold. When we leave here we will do all we can to not get stationed somewhere that it snows and freezes, it's such a pain in the arse. Sunday, December 14, 2008. I watched the CNN H...

My knitting and thoughts about living in Alaska. Thursday, January 29, 2009. The British are coming! Brett's class did a play about the Boston Tea Party - they're studying the revolution right now. So Brett was a British soldier in the play. He was so cute! Thursday, January 22, 2009. So here's a few of the things I made for Christmas gifts. Gloria's socks (my mother-in-law). Mike's USC hat (brother-in-law). Kari's mini-sweater aka:shrug (sister-in-law). Ruth's socks (my step mom). How bad is it really?

Knitting and other stuff that doesn't really matter, except to me. Monday, August 17, 2009. Thank you, EZ! How can it be that I've never knitted Elizabeth Zimmermann's Baby Surprise Jacket. Her original design debuted in the 1960's, and has totally stood the test of time. It's genius! So I have no excuse. I recently purchased a Subtle Stripes Spinning Kit from cosymakes. Cosette's colors are fabulous. Check 'em out! Add a few vintage buttons, and ta-dah! A beautiful little jacket for a sweet baby! Being ...

Alles nicht so einfach. Der Wahnsinn hat Methode, wirklich. Macht es gut und wach bleiben! Was für eine Freak-Show! Ansammlu...
