On the road again. Wednesday, June 27, 2012. The streets are crowded with tourists probably here to soak up the atmosphere of the Palio which is on July the 2nd. Steps down to our hotel. The "extensions" on the chairs and table to make them level! The Palio in Siena is a horse race. But in Pavia it is a boat race (where the oarsmen stand in the boat and use oars similiar in a way to the paddles puntsmen use.) On the road again. Tuesday, July 10, 2012. As I said last time - we are now in Rome and so now I will tell you about the last few days. The walk from La Storta to St Peter's Basilica was probably the worst of the whole journey, with one small part excepted. The park entrance . And the view a couple of hundred metres later! After stopping at the first cafe we found for a leisurely lunch we then headed down a straight road to the Piazza where made sure photos were taken of our arrival at about 1.30pm!
