Judgment and Decision Making: INEQUITY AVERSION IN ANIMALS

http://judgmentanddecisions.blogspot.com/2010/01/inequity-aversion-in-animals.html

Wednesday, 13 January 2010. INEQUITY AVERSION IN ANIMALS. The focus of my part of the essay is on chimpanzees. My work will be mostly based on the paper "Chimpanzees Are Rational Maximizers in an Ultimatum Game" by K. Jensen, J. Call and M. Tomasello. The key findings from the experiments that they conduct on chimpanzees as humans' closest relatives are not sensitive to fairness. Also that they are rational maximizers. Thursday, 10 December 2009. Monkeys reject unequal pay" by Brosnan, S. and Waal, F. In the study that we read for our presentation. Presentation in group is another piece of work that will be added to the overall mark from the module Judgement an Decision Making. My presentation is tomorrow and I am quite confident as the group of girls that I have been working with for the last couple of weeks is hard working and dedicated. Monday, 23 November 2009. The most important characteristic the endowment effect is. Which describes the reference point (here-current state of affair) and decreases in object value which influences decision more than increases of object value does. Endowment effect explains how evaluation of an objects can have significant economic consequences. For my last lecture we read the paper by E. Johnson, A. Keinan. Findings have challenged most of the economic theories. Authors. 13 December 2009 at 09:46.

Judgment and Decision Making: Framing Effect

http://judgmentanddecisions.blogspot.com/2009/11/framing-effect.html

Sunday, 8 November 2009. The focus of my last lecture was on framing effect. As this blog is about judgement and decision making it is crucial to mention how framing questions and sentences in a choice between 2 problems can influence our decision. Our task was to read the article by Daniel Kahneman and Amos Tversky called " Choices, Values, and Frames". This study considers normative. Logic and rational) and descriptive. Consider problem that authors described in their study (1984, 343). 150 respondents...

Look in the toilet, Watson!: Wait, I have one more request!

http://lookinthetoiletwatson.blogspot.com/2009/12/wait-i-have-one-more-request.html

Look in the toilet, Watson! Monday, 7 December 2009. Wait, I have one more request! Please bring my group for J&DM back to life! From the 4 original members, 2 of them have gone AWOL, and unless the other two surviving members (HI SUZANNE, and myself) do some DOUBLE EXTRA WORK, we are FUBAR pretty much yes. I love how FUBAR is accepted, but some people would be disappointed if I said "fucked up beyond all repair". Woops! Posted by Oscar Riba. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Look in the toilet, Watson! Friday, 4 December 2009. Week 5 (6th November post): Decision framing. Just a quick note on this week: Since it is the week in which we based our first assessment, I thought that instead of posting a review here, you could just read the coursework wiki. Which works as well, and saves me from dying in the attempt! Posted by Oscar Riba. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Judgment and Decision Making Reflective Report (Aminta Seidi). http://lookinthetoiletwatson.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

Look in the toilet, Watson! Monday, 2 November 2009. How useful it is to measure utility! After having spent at least 40 attempts to recreate the graphs from David Hardman's post. I finally made it! As you can read, the first one is for Certainty equivalence, and the second one for Probability equivalence. Reading the graphs themselves, you can see that I'm not really a gambler, prefering more than 50% of what I can win before I settle down for the cash prize (I'd rather take £600 than being able to...

Look in the toilet, Watson! Friday, 4 December 2009. Reading week (random topic week! Look in the toilet, Watson! Sunday, 11 October 2009. Psychology., and zombies. I was watching last night this joyful program called Dead Set. Which basically consists of "Big Brother" meets "zombies", when I decided to write this small note. What else can you find which is so fun, gory, and, at the same time, illustrative of how human psychology works? Which even has an entry on the wikipedia! They give you a view of the world (experience may vary on readers/observers using glasses [like me, until recently! Pdf, 72kb) give a pretty good explanation.
