Paper Paper Paper: February 2011
http://bpgraphicdesign.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Monday, 14 February 2011. The above images show one piece manipulated to appear in different forms. These three images are using a thinner long strip of paper. This is using the same piece of paper but twisting the structure round so that both ends connected and formed a sort of knot. This structure was using a piece of paper already cut into a curve before it was pleated. I really like the shapes and forms that could be made with this idea. Thursday, 10 February 2011. I picked out a few pieces that real...

Paper Paper Paper: So not as easy as it sounds!
http://bpgraphicdesign.blogspot.com/2011/03/so-not-as-easy-as-it-sounds.html
Wednesday, 9 March 2011. So not as easy as it sounds! So i tried out the wet folding technique and found it is A LOT harder than i thought. I think the main problem was that i had my heart set on being able to produce something as amazing as Richard Sweeney. This didn't really go as hoped! 65279;Even after experimenting with several models i couldn't create the shapes i was hoping for. Richard Sweeney obviously has a secret ingredient he's just not letting out! Here are a couple of my best attempts.

Paper Paper Paper: Shaped Structures
http://bpgraphicdesign.blogspot.com/2011/03/shaped-structures.html
Wednesday, 2 March 2011. I found a few structures and buildings that have all been formed around or resemble the shape of moving water such as waves. I really like the bench above as it takes a really similar form to some of the paper models i have made with its pleats creating curves. I also found the work below that has been produced using paper to create a waved appearence. I havent tried out this technique yet so i will have a go and see what shapes can be produced. DanielleRose..: FAIL
http://danielle-pilkington.blogspot.com/2011/03/fail.html
Monday, 14 March 2011. Started making my sculpture a few days back now and these were my first attempts using card. I used double sided tape to secure the tabs. The next morning I woke up to these. The attached tabs all fell apart. So I think I will have to use cartridge paper to make the rest. I have included these images because, even though they failed they look quite good so thought I'd photograph them, they remind me of an animals skeleton, essence of an open rib cage going on. The one and only.

Monday, 14 March 2011. This is my final 3D form! I think it responds well to the brief as it involves repetition and it reflects my research. Using the 12 separate pieces attached using double sided tape, I sewed thread around the bottom pieces to connect them as it was very unstable, the tape kept un-sticking and falling out of shape etc. Also attached some thread to some of the points at the top to create a hanging, kind of like a chandelier. Poster Developments and Final Poster. Looking back magic tap...

DanielleRose..: January 2011
http://danielle-pilkington.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, 29 January 2011. Thought it would be appropriate to take a look at some of Richard Sweeney. S work. His work is very delicate and graceful. I love the curves and pleats in his work which add texture. I especially like the Motion Forms he has produced. A method called wet folding was used, which allows easier manipulation of the paper. The shapes produced. Remind me of waves and other organic forms found in nature. This is an Ink on paper mono print by Sweeney. The artist is Peter Callesen.

DanielleRose..: Final Ideas for Sculpture
http://danielle-pilkington.blogspot.com/2011/03/task-1-final-ideas.html
Sunday, 6 March 2011. Final Ideas for Sculpture. Well I'm basing my final idea on the structure of a leaf, pretty basic I know, but sometime the simplest idea turns out to be the best one. Well I'm hoping so on this occasion anyway. I'm also taking inspiration from some of the shell inspired forms I created. Starting to feel a bit better today :). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
