http://kyleinhonduras.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
El Sueño de Mí. Chronicles of a Peace Corps Volunteer's Life in Honduras. Sunday, July 5, 2009. As people all over the United States celebrated the Fourth of July with barbeques and fireworks, a different type of patriotism was being seen throughout Honduras as Honduran citizens, young and old, took to the streets to rally and protest. As you may or may not know, last Sunday morning (June 28. Many people said that Mel was trying to follow in the footsteps of Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez (he did somet...

Below are a few pictures of the contrast that I described between beauty and beastie:. Beauty: My friend Ryan on I on a hike to the hot springs that are close to Ocotepeque. Beauty: Picture of me up on a hill at sunset by my house. Contemplating life. Beast: Pile of trash that I encountered while walking around. I see things like this on a daily basis. Saturday, August 1, 2015. Last weekend I did the typical summer in AZ trip and went over to California for the weekend with Dave and Robin. We flew from PHX to SNA on Friday night and then back on Sunday late afternoon. Our original plan was to go to Universal Studios on Saturday, however, the Vans US Open of Surfing was right outside our hotel (literally). We decided to hang around it all day Saturday. Lunch from nektar on the hotel patio Saturday afternoon. I love convertibles - especially in CA! Style...

Monday, July 20, 2015. Rust Reunion X - Thursday. After 3 jam packed days of reunion fun, I was able to sleep in a little on Thursday morning. No alarm clock, and black out shades were shut. It was nice to have some lazy time. This was a toad I saw on the path from the cabin to the main area.it was as big as it looks. I should've tried kissing it.:). Thursday morning we had a lumberjack from Burly Bear. Both ended up looking great. Practicing some walking with Uriah. And holding 3-month old Easton. Natha...

Saturday, May 17, 2014. Esprit de she Triathlon. Two weeks ago, on May 4th, Caitlin and I did the Esprit de she triathlon. Around the end of March, Caitlin posted on Facebook that she was signing up so I decided to as well. The swim was in Tempe Town Lake. I thought it was going to be really cold, but it actually wasn't too bad. My group (ages 39 and under doing the super sprint distance) was assigned silver caps. I was the first silver cap out of the water. I felt great during the swim. Happy to be done.

Tuesday, July 1, 2014. On Wednesday June 4th, 2014 at 8:37am Uriah James Hiatt was born, weighing in at 8lbs, 2oz. I got the call from Kellyn and Coby at 11:31am on that day saying that I was now an aunt! This was the first picture I received of him. I finished out the workday and went to the gym before going to Kellyn and Coby's since they wanted to get a nap in during the afternoon. This was love at first sight. Mom and Dad, aka Grandma and Grandpa. The new parents and grandparents. Always Love. Ha...

Monday, July 27, 2015. Sam's Long 2 Weeks. Before I went to bed, I made this pillow "cage" on my bed so she couldn't go anywhere during the night without me knowing. Around 2am or so, she started to get a little more energy so we were up to eat a couple of times during the night. The next two weeks were uneventful - this is a picture of the incision a couple of nights after she got the external stitches. And this was a picture of the incision a couple of days ago.looking much better. For a day of. Marc, ...

New Webelos
How to Help New Webelo Scouts. This is the time of year when the Webelo Cub Scouts are bridging into Boy Scout troops. Soon, our troop will be getting some new scouts of our own! One of the best ways to make a person feel welcome to a new group of people is to invite them to do things with you. Although often the scouts will be doing things on their own, there are times when you can invite them to have fun! Could be leading the creation of the lashing structure rather than you! In scouting, it's always m...
Kyle's Hollywood Blog
Thursday, May 08, 2014. Last summer, I had an awesome opportunity to work in Las Vegas on a documentary they were filming at EDC (Electric Daisy Carnival). It was one of the crazier things I have ever worked on - but it was a great experience to be behind the scenes of such a large event. The trailer for the movie was just released, so I figured I would share it with you all! Saturday, February 01, 2014. Book of Mormon @ The Pantages. I feel like in some ways I can relate. You will not be disappointed.

Kyle in Kazakhstan
Monday, September 27, 2010. I Miss You, Kazakhstan. I now blog at http:/ kyle.stiemsma.com. If you would like to start the next chapter of this crazy book I call my life. Tuesday, July 20, 2010. The Blank Pages of My Story. As my trip was nearing the end and I was hugging all of my students goodbye I began to be afraid—afraid of my unknown future, afraid that my story would become boring in going back to my regular life in America. But, Kazakhstan changed me. Reading Million Miles. And lots of them!
K-Chuck's Kazakhstan Experience
The life of a Peace Corps volunteer in Kazakhstan. Wednesday, December 1, 2010. It's been 10 days since I arrived in my hometown of Davenport Iowa. Since that time, I've hung out with my brother, mother and father, and celebrated Thanksgiving. And now that my Peace Corps experience has ended it is time to close out this blog. Reflecting on it all. Thinking about Peace Corps, it was something that I needed to do. Or whatever “corps” they’d have when I am 78. And a bit more. I’ve been depressed, conc...

Kyle In Krakow | Where I can mutter a handful of words, and all my friends are leaving me…
Where I can mutter a handful of words, and all my friends are leaving me…. Exactly one year ago today…. September 3, 2014. 8230;I woke up after spending my first night in Krakow. One year ago. I know it’s a cliché but it really does feel like yesterday, and I really wish I could start it all over again. This isn’t the end of the blog. I’ll post pictures here and there with an anecdote or two, mainly for myself rather than for anyone else, and write when I feel compelled to. Thanks Krakow, I miss you.
