K-Chuck's Kazakhstan Experience: What’s in my iTunes: Popular music in Kazakhstan

http://kyleinkazakhstan.blogspot.com/2010/08/whats-in-my-itunes-popular-music-in.html

The life of a Peace Corps volunteer in Kazakhstan. Sunday, August 8, 2010. What’s in my iTunes: Popular music in Kazakhstan. In Kazakhstan I've found that music fills a critical void in my life, mainly because it has helped me retain what little sanity I have left. Whenever things get a bit too much, a couple of hours listening to music calms me down. During Naruyz, and having musical adventures in Taldykorgan by rocking out in a bar until 3am. So what have I been listening to over the past two years?

K-Chuck's Kazakhstan Experience: Mo' Money Mo' Problems: NGOs, grants, and grassroots fundraising

http://kyleinkazakhstan.blogspot.com/2010/04/mo-money-mo-problems-ngos-grants-and.html

The life of a Peace Corps volunteer in Kazakhstan. Friday, April 30, 2010. Mo' Money Mo' Problems: NGOs, grants, and grassroots fundraising. This week I've watched all of the Star Wars movies in order in their entirety . Watching the Phantom Menace was painful, but I toughed it out. So while this post has a point and is important towards explaining my work in Kazakhstan, it is also full of nerdiness. Warned you, I have. This can lead to grant chasing, which is an awful problem. By my definition, gran...

K-Chuck's Kazakhstan Experience: November 2010

http://kyleinkazakhstan.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

The life of a Peace Corps volunteer in Kazakhstan. Friday, November 26, 2010. While deleting files from my computer after everyone passed out from food comas after dinner, I came across some unpublished blog posts. I didn’t post them initially for many reasons: I didn’t know where they would fit in the scheme of this blog, I didn’t know enough about that particular topic at the time, or. On being Black in Kazakhstan. Conveying what I felt is very difficult. At the same time, I think it is an important qu...

K-Chuck's Kazakhstan Experience: October 2010

http://kyleinkazakhstan.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

The life of a Peace Corps volunteer in Kazakhstan. Saturday, October 30, 2010. Since coming to Kazakhstan I’ve taken an interest in superstitions. Learning and sharing superstitions with people of other cultures is very fun, a great cultural exchange, and collecting them has become a bit of a hobby for me. People in Kazakhstan get a hoot out of hearing American superstitions about black cats, the number 13, walking under ladders, breaking mirrors, and summoning the Bloody Mary. Showing money to the moon.

K-Chuck's Kazakhstan Experience: The Last Word

http://kyleinkazakhstan.blogspot.com/2010/12/last-word.html

The life of a Peace Corps volunteer in Kazakhstan. Wednesday, December 1, 2010. It's been 10 days since I arrived in my hometown of Davenport Iowa. Since that time, I've hung out with my brother, mother and father, and celebrated Thanksgiving. And now that my Peace Corps experience has ended it is time to close out this blog. Reflecting on it all. Thinking about Peace Corps, it was something that I needed to do. Or whatever “corps” they’d have when I am 78. And a bit more. I’ve been depressed, conc...

Take the step...: June 2009

http://changinglivesinkazakhstan.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html

Sunday, June 14, 2009. Well, summer camp has begun! Although instead of being overnight camp, it’s day camp, until camp camp opens, which may happen this week! Then back to camp at 4pm for outside activities, crafts, movie time, dinner, discos, and free time until 8pm when I went back home. The bus I usually take home stops running at 8 again leaving me to wonder why I don’t live closer to my school…? Thursday, June 4, 2009. The Workshop began with journals and journal decorating! That was followed by di...

Take the step...: July 2009

http://changinglivesinkazakhstan.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Sunday, July 26, 2009. I arrived back to site (from Almaty) on Thursday morning. The same day that the circus was in Balkhash! And my site mate and I had tickets! The lion really didn’t do anything except walked out on stage for a bit and walked in a circle. I think it was supposed to do tricks, but didn’t. There was a ginormous snake that the circus man put in his mouth! Other circus acts included clowns juggling fire, dancers, a woman ate fire and one girl even walked on knives! Friday, July 24, 2009.

Take the step...: September 2009

http://changinglivesinkazakhstan.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html

Thursday, September 24, 2009. This month two of the ladies in my office celebrated birthdays within a week of each other and when in Kaz, we celebrate like ain’t no tomorrow! First, was the birthday of one of the assistants to the director. She celebrated her birthday here at school. She brought in TONS of food and we ate for a long time pausing only to give toasts! This is actually SUPER good for me considering that winter is approaching much more quickly than I want it to. I already got the windows...

How to Help New Webelo Scouts. This is the time of year when the Webelo Cub Scouts are bridging into Boy Scout troops. Soon, our troop will be getting some new scouts of our own! One of the best ways to make a person feel welcome to a new group of people is to invite them to do things with you. Although often the scouts will be doing things on their own, there are times when you can invite them to have fun! Could be leading the creation of the lashing structure rather than you! Kyle's Hollywood Blog

Thursday, May 08, 2014. Last summer, I had an awesome opportunity to work in Las Vegas on a documentary they were filming at EDC (Electric Daisy Carnival). It was one of the crazier things I have ever worked on - but it was a great experience to be behind the scenes of such a large event. The trailer for the movie was just released, so I figured I would share it with you all! Saturday, February 01, 2014. Book of Mormon @ The Pantages. I feel like in some ways I can relate. Where I can mutter a handful of words, and all my friends are leaving me…. Exactly one year ago today…. September 3, 2014. 8230;I woke up after spending my first night in Krakow. One year ago. I know it’s a cliché but it really does feel like yesterday, and I really wish I could start it all over again. This isn’t the end of the blog. I’ll post pictures here and there with an anecdote or two, mainly for myself rather than for anyone else, and write when I feel compelled to. Thanks Krakow, I miss you.
