Learning and sharing superstitions with people of other cultures is very fun, a great cultural exchange, and collecting them has become a bit of a hobby for me. People in Kazakhstan get a hoot out of hearing American superstitions about black cats, the number 13, walking under ladders, breaking mirrors, and summoning the Bloody Mary. Sunday, July 26, 2009. I arrived back to site (from Almaty) on Thursday morning. The same day that the circus was in Balkhash! And my site mate and I had tickets! The lion really didn’t do anything except walked out on stage for a bit and walked in a circle. I think it was supposed to do tricks, but didn’t. There was a ginormous snake that the circus man put in his mouth! Other circus acts included clowns juggling fire, dancers, a woman ate fire and one girl even walked on knives! Friday, July 24, 2009.

Where I can mutter a handful of words, and all my friends are leaving me…. Exactly one year ago today…. September 3, 2014. 8230;I woke up after spending my first night in Krakow. One year ago. I know it’s a cliché but it really does feel like yesterday, and I really wish I could start it all over again. This isn’t the end of the blog. I’ll post pictures here and there with an anecdote or two, mainly for myself rather than for anyone else, and write when I feel compelled to. Thanks Krakow, I miss you.
