Creative Stumblings: Reflections of...

Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray. -Rumi-. Monday, April 23, 2007. I love living in this city. The Canucks are playing in game 7, first round of the playoffs and they just scored in the 3rd period to go up 2-1 - you could hear people all around us shouting with joy! Of course, if they were playing badly, everyone would be dissing them together too. The best news of late is my R getting his residency! How excited are we? Oh M, I am SO, ...

Creative Stumblings: February 2007

Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray. -Rumi-. Friday, February 16, 2007. I haven't done one of these in ages, it's time. This week I'm grateful for:. My R and his strength. That he's going through all this immigration stuff for us. My bed - hopefully I'll have some quality time with it this weekend. The people I work with. My new support system. Our recordable DVD player. Wine, wine, wine. Learning how to have faith that all will work out.

Seafood in Sicily | Life in Sicily
https://elskermeg.wordpress.com/2006/08/29/seafood-in-sicily
August 29, 2006. We went out to eat for a freind’s birthday and I just had to photograph some of the seafood (even though I don’t eat it myself)! I tasted one of the little fried fish but the flavor was too strong for me. I couldn’t bring myself to even try the deep-fried baby octupus. Here is the octupus salad that I have talked about before. It’s chopped up octupus with olive oil, lemon, and parsely. That damn lobster was staring right at me! And finally, my favorite. The pizza. Without seafood. Septem...

poetsday: one deep breath
http://helpmewriteapoem.blogspot.com/2006/10/one-deep-breath_31.html
Tuesday, October 31, 2006. Watching them when I'm not there. Faith, trust, hope and love. This week's prompt made me think I'm more of an observational guy and I could appreciate the unseen more. I had a bit of difficulty with 'observing' the unseen without being too literal. Posted by Ian russell at 12:16 AM. Beautiful poem, Ian. Tuesday, 31 October, 2006. I know what you mean. I too have similar problems. Wednesday, 01 November, 2006. Friday, 17 November, 2006. For me, poetry is still a bit of a mystery.

poetsday: two-minute poetry
http://helpmewriteapoem.blogspot.com/2006/11/two-minute-poetry_116481101961298670.html
Wednesday, November 29, 2006. A wise man I knew sat to offer advice. He told me, whenever you attempt anything. Try to be the best, and if you can't. Be the best, then be. There are a lot of people in this old world. You can bet if you've thought of it. Then someone else has too! Think twice about everything you do. But don't just do nothing. That just won't do at all! If you can't be the best - or. Just be yourself, be someone at least. And on that point he rose. And leaving, walked smack into a post.

poetsday: avoidance
http://helpmewriteapoem.blogspot.com/2006/10/avoidance.html
Friday, October 20, 2006. Or fewer than seventeen. Posted by Ian russell at 1:13 AM. For me, poetry is still a bit of a mystery. This began as a serious personal exercise to understand and appreciate poetry, and to endeavour to compose at least one piece of good verse. It still is, although to a lesser extent. moving on, this is now really a place to post my thoughts and observations in verse form. I have developed a greater fondness for the haiku form of expression, more now than merely a syllable puzzle.

The draft of a suicide note lay. Amongst the aftermath of breakfast. A half-consumed body of man. The sacrificial lamb hanging.

Monday, October 23, 2006. When i glance in the mirror. Caught in the passing headlights. As the night claims them. Reading the link on one deep breath for Kristin Boryca. S study on the four aesthetic terms in haiku - sabi, wabi, yugen and aware, I wondered if they could relate to the four elements - fire, air (wind), water, earth. (whatever they might mean! I came up with;. Sabi - solitude - air (or wind). Wabi - stability - earth. Yugen - mystery - fire. Aware - impermanence - water. Kinda creepy, huh?

poetsday: June 2006
http://helpmewriteapoem.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_archive.html
Friday, June 30, 2006. Palm trees anticipate the arc. Of your body, its return to the earth. Instead of the ocean, the reflection. Of pavement, the mirrors in your apartment. That once focused only on your face. You cannot discard unwanted limbs. On the beach. You are convinced blood. Is the solvent of skin, and your heart. Is continually forcing high tide. The above example was on today's verse daily. I just like the poem. Postscript: I refer to its symbolism. Posted by Ian russell at 1:04 AM. A tom sou...
