A day earlier than I had originally planned, I don't think I would return to this region again.seemed very unfrenchlike.Drove 2 1/2 hours northwest to Chinon. And the Loire River. Is a medieval village with a massive castle complex overlooking it. This was the home of Joan of Arc. By the way.lots of statues and likenesses around the town. It does manage a great view of the surrounding area, which was the point I guess.

French, Swiss and Italian Culinary Travels. Friday, June 17, 2016. Azay le Rideau . Villandry. Since I was in the Loire Valley, today was a Chateau day.the first one was Azay le Rideau. About 20 minutes from the place I was staying. It is built on a river island with a sleepy village attached to it. A very pleasant setting for this somewhat modest structure (as chateau go). Surprisingly small beds for these very rich people. Lots of art about. Rooms were richly appointed. As a country house, it should do.

French, Swiss and Italian Culinary Travels. Thursday, June 9, 2016. Went northeast a hour or so to Albi, an interesting river town (Tarn River) with a very different kind of cathedral. It gives every impression on the exterior of a fortified castle. What really does it for me is that there is no real front entrance and the windows are very high. Inside however it is very much a church although unique in design. The ceiling is extraordinarily high and with a blue sky color. Posted by Robert Zambetti.

Sonntag, 7. Oktober 2012. Manchmal überkommen einen ja so unverhoffte Gelüste, die man an sich zuvor noch nie beobachten konnte. Ein ebensolches überfiel mich, als ich bei Küchenlatein. Die Fotos ihrer "Kaspressknödel" sah. Wort und Rezept waren mir gleichermaßen unbekannt, aber die Fotos sprachen ihre eigene Sprache, und verleiteten mich sogar dazu, an der Käsetheke 5,45 Euro in ein Stückchen Bergkäse zu investieren(! Ansonsten habe ich mich, knödelunkundig wie ich war, komplett an Küchenlateins Rezept.
