This was the first time I've let my students cook with hot oil, and it went off without a hitch! 1 onion, chopped. 1 1/2 tsp. vegetable oil. 1 medium tomato, chopped. 1 clove garlic, minced. 4 oz green chilies, chopped. 1 lb ground beef. 4 oz mild cheddar cheese, grated. 10 flour tortillas (10-inches). Vegetable oil for frying. 1Saute onions and garlic in oil in a medium frying pan for 2 to 3 minutes. Serve with salsa and sour cream.

Friday, February 24, 2012. Best Sugar Cookies :). We made these on Valentine's Day and it was a huge success! The students loved the decorating process. Enjoy! 1 ¼ cup flour. 188; tsp cream of tartar. 188; tsp baking soda. 188; tsp salt. 188; C shortening. 188; C butter. 188; C sugar. 188; C powdered sugar. 190; tsp vanilla. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Sift flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt. Set aside. Cream shortening, butter and sugars. Stir in egg and vanilla. Bake at 375 for 6-8 minutes.

Tuesday, December 14, 2010. Fruit Pizza = SO MUCH FUN! This is a simple, very fun recipe. Check out the student's creativity with their creations! 1 1/3 cups flour. 1 tsp baking powder. 1/3 cup plus 1 T. shortening. 1/2 tsp almond flavoring. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Sift together: sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt. Add milk, egg and almond flavoring and mix well with flat beater on mixer. If needed, knead in enough flour for rolling consistency. Cowboy Salsa. Giddy Up! 1/2 can pinto beans, drained.
