Mutterings and Meanderings: February 2009
http://mutteringsandmeanderings.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Themeless - if not seamless - observations, episodes and soapbox moments, interspersed with the occasional Paddington Bear hard stare. Friday, February 06, 2009. The way we were. In a TV schedule awash with things I don't want to watch, I have been heartened by BBC2's Victorian Farm. Eventually, I found what I was looking for in the most wonderful old brown-paged volume called Economy Success Cookery. I discovered that an ox's tongue - as it is properly called - should be boiled for two and a half hours ...

Mutterings and Meanderings: No snow
http://mutteringsandmeanderings.blogspot.com/2009/02/no-snow.html
Themeless - if not seamless - observations, episodes and soapbox moments, interspersed with the occasional Paddington Bear hard stare. Thursday, February 05, 2009. To those who have kindly asked where I am, I am pleased to report that I am not stuck, neck deep in a drift of snow. In fact, the deepest I have been this week is probably half an inch in Newcastle on Monday morning. Here on my wee stretch of the coast, we have so far been denied the white stuff that has enveloped much of the country. As the L...

Mutterings and Meanderings: Brambling
http://mutteringsandmeanderings.blogspot.com/2007/08/brambling.html
Themeless - if not seamless - observations, episodes and soapbox moments, interspersed with the occasional Paddington Bear hard stare. Thursday, August 16, 2007. At school. His. Poems may have been thought-provoking but I much preferred. Something inescapably bloody about brambles; as Seamus says, they look like ‘a plate of eyes’: much more macabre than desiccated bodies in the peat. Brambling always makes me feel somewhat like the prince in Sleeping Beauty. Stay at home dad. 16 August 2007 at 23:00.

Mutterings and Meanderings: Of cars and cleaning
http://mutteringsandmeanderings.blogspot.com/2007/05/cars.html
Themeless - if not seamless - observations, episodes and soapbox moments, interspersed with the occasional Paddington Bear hard stare. Wednesday, May 23, 2007. Of cars and cleaning. My car is a rather clapped out. Called Charlie. I have had him for nearly six years; that’s longer than some marriages last. But I am not kind to him. He is forced to do a 100-mile round trip five days a week; I tell people in his hearing that I want a diesel and I openly lust after a 4x4 with. It was worse when I smoked....

Mutterings and Meanderings: August 2008
http://mutteringsandmeanderings.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Themeless - if not seamless - observations, episodes and soapbox moments, interspersed with the occasional Paddington Bear hard stare. Saturday, August 30, 2008. And so the year turns. Failed to produce a single fruit this year, ditto the pear which admittedly surpassed itself last year with a veritable orchard's worth on its own, and the apples have been poor. The plums - those that were not hijacked by wasps - were good, but yet again the hedgerows are where the real treasure is to be found. The compet...
Merry Daze: Flying!
http://merrydaze.blogspot.com/2011/03/flying.html
Often in the mud always looking to the light. Sunday, 20 March 2011. Today I've been flying from Biggin Hill, in a light aircraft, flown by Tom, my eldest son. He's training for a private pilot's licence. In the back seat I was two things - silent while he did his thing - and terribly proud. Boy to man. His own man. And a darn sight more focussed and competent than his mother has ever been! Go Tom. Keep being yourself. Posted by merry weather. If your boy wants to do it nows the time. That must have been...

Mutterings and Meanderings: July 2008
http://mutteringsandmeanderings.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
Themeless - if not seamless - observations, episodes and soapbox moments, interspersed with the occasional Paddington Bear hard stare. Tuesday, July 29, 2008. The delights of dressage. The Grey Mare and I have a new hobby. No, not her dropping me in the long grass when birds fly out of it unexpectedly (which has happened twice in the last month, the first of which necessitated me hobbling around with a stick for two days). but dressage. The lovely soft dressage horseness we had almost achieved at home we...

Mutterings from Africa | An enterprise journey
Unlocking the potential of mobility in Africa. April 12, 2013. By Mutterings from Africa. And tagged Enterprise Mobility. I believe that Africa represents the greatest Enterprise Mobility opportunity for any network operator anywhere in the world today, it is one the last great opportunities, all MNCs are waking up to Africa, they are economically challenged in their traditional markets and are now looking for ways to sustain and grow their own organisations. On the demand side Less than 5% of MNCs have ...

mutterings from kara | on thoughts and adventures
Skip to main content. Skip to secondary content. On thoughts and adventures. January 1, 2014. So the job search is underway! David and I decided not to take the job at a very prestigious school because it is far outside of the city so I hope that we didn’t just make a big mistake. I would have liked working for them, despite never having seen the school or the curriculum, but we would have had to live in a suburb again and that is not why we moved all the way across the world. December 30, 2013. Back wit...

Mutterings from The Muse
Mutterings from The Muse. Friday, 3 February 2012. Cat and mouse tales. Totter jumping would have made it to You Tube. One day my mother looked across the garden and spotted Friska's sweet little face appearing out of one of the little doorways of the neighbour's very new dovecote. Moments later the cat returned, lovingly bringing back a present. There then followed the trauma of returning the corpse to be told that they were 'very special' and EXPENSIVE doves. These lessons in life and death no doubt pr...

Mutterings from the South
Mutterings from the South. I'm 27 years old, a husband, a father and a UNISON Branch Secretary, in that order. I have, on occasion, been accused of being a lefty, I will leave you to draw your own conclusions. Oh, and this blog is entirely in a personal capacity and nothing to do with UNISON! Tuesday, 12 January 2010. Well, I'm glad that's over. And I'm not talking about Christmas! It's been a while since I've blogged, and there are some very good reasons for that, in my personal opinion at any rate.
