So many things to do...: January 2011
http://contrarycolleen.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
So many things to do. Saturday, January 29, 2011. My maternity leave is winding down. I have two weeks left. How fast it has gone.and I took a relatively long leave of 4 and a half months (and by relatively long I mean by US standards, not by the standards of the clearly more enlightened European countries where maternity leave is a year). So what's a girl to do with such little time left? It's amazing how 2 hours of free time seems like so much now. Sunday, January 16, 2011. My latest completion is a qu...

So many things to do...: Welcome to Motherhood
http://contrarycolleen.blogspot.com/2010/11/welcome-to-motherhood.html
So many things to do. Monday, November 22, 2010. Well, at long last the little one has arrived. He's a month old now, and at the risk of sounding cliche, motherhood is infinitely more rewarding and. Challenging than I had ever expected. He's adorable.bright-eyed, cuddly, already smiling and extraordinarily gifted at exhausting me.as babies tend to be. I'm totally in love. I know it won't be long before he's squirming away when I try to hold him, but oh! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I like my garden.

So many things to do...: April 2009
http://contrarycolleen.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
So many things to do. Tuesday, April 21, 2009. I'm loving this weather, despite the fact that having no AC in the house makes me wilt a bit. It's given me spring/summer fever in a very big way. This morning as I walked from my car to the BART train, something in the breeze made me think of camping. I can't wait for camping! Tuesday, April 7, 2009. Spring Planting and Junk Beds. I have one wine barrel that is empty and I haven't quite decided what to put in it yet. The hops are starting nicely.at ...This ...

So many things to do...: September 2010
http://contrarycolleen.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
So many things to do. Sunday, September 12, 2010. I love finishing things. Such satisfaction. I'm the kind of gal that just loves checking items of the to-do list. Even small completions like using the very last of a shampoo bottle gives me a small sense of pleasure. What I'm not. Enjoying however, is finishing off my job at work. It's my favorite month. Well, maybe tied with June.but it's still up there. Autumn! I'm so very excited. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I'm an ordinary gal living in the SF bay ar...

And the Plot thickens: About Me
http://andtheplotthickens.blogspot.com/p/about-me.html
And the Plot thickens. Stories, experiments, and photos from my goofy urban farm in the Eastern hills of the San Francisco Bay Area. My mom gardens every year, and she taught me. We get together and put up strawberry jam, applebutter, and pickles all the time. She is the source of the dirt under my fingernails. She, my Texan and I are looking for just the right spot to pot up our family, so keep yer fingers crossed! Here are the trials. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Will the seller sue the bank?

And the Plot thickens: Annual Cropping meets Permaculture
http://andtheplotthickens.blogspot.com/2010/05/annual-cropping-meets-permaculture.html
And the Plot thickens. Stories, experiments, and photos from my goofy urban farm in the Eastern hills of the San Francisco Bay Area. Thursday, May 20, 2010. Annual Cropping meets Permaculture. Most people haven't heard of Permaculture, so they expect it's new. In truth, it's ancient. From all over the world in all kinds of environments. That's Annual Cropping - modern Agribusiness. It's even practiced on forests and fruit/nut trees. You know when you drive down a road and look into an orchard and...Fun F...

Bay Area Gardening has become SUB TROPICAL GARDENING: Highlights that I forgot to mention
http://bayareagardening.blogspot.com/2010/04/highlights-that-i-forgot-to-mention.html
Bay Area Gardening has become SUB TROPICAL GARDENING. A home gardening enthusiast who moved from California's Silicon Valley to Phoenix where it's warmer and sunnier, but drier. Thursday, April 29, 2010. Highlights that I forgot to mention. How could I have forgotten to post my blooming Cattlaya? I've had it for years, gave cuttings of it to many people including my sister. Then the parent plant died - I think I drowned it. My sister sent me cuttings from the plant I sent her! When I pruned the citrus, i...

Bay Area Gardening has become SUB TROPICAL GARDENING: Sprinkler problems and alternatives

Bay Area Gardening has become SUB TROPICAL GARDENING. A home gardening enthusiast who moved from California's Silicon Valley to Phoenix where it's warmer and sunnier, but drier. Thursday, November 11, 2010. Sprinkler problems and alternatives. What are good alternatives to automatic sprinklers? None of my plants died, but they also did not thrive. I guess such systems are more effective for beds of veggies that have shallow roots. Now that it's started to rain here, my flowers are blooming even though th...
