We will finish our truffula trees for Neuseville and than create drawings in his style.This should be a lot of fun. The truffula trees are awesome, and I cannot wait to add them to Neuseville! NCS Art - Second Grade. 2012-2013 Elem. Art Blog. Sunday, December 4, 2016. This past week we created 'Coil Pots' using air dry clay and learned about the 'coil' method using clay. This is a more difficult method than the pinch pot method, but very fun! First we pinched off small pieces of clay, rolled them into balls than rolled them into a snake shape. The first coil became the bottom, than we changed the direction of the coil to build up and create our sides. Art Class Information - 2nd.

We used oil pastels and cake tempera paint and drew Fall scenes. There were many choices and this was fun! We also illustrated 'Facts' about the first Thanksgiving. We learned several clay techniques: the pinching method, tool use and adding clay with slip. We first made a pinch pot using the pinching method. This involves using your thumb and two index finders and pinching the pot slowing to form the bow. Students also added small ball shapes to either the rim or outside of the pot. Awesome Inc. theme. This past week, 1st graders created turkeys or peacocks by first making a basic pattern that covered their whole paper. We folded this paper to create the turkey or peacock's feathers. We used a fuzzy stick to make the body and learn some basic twisting techniques for wire. These turned out really great and they were so fun to make! We talked about foods that we see this time of year.
