Neil Grant was born in Glasgow, Scotland in The Year of the Fire Horse but was prevented from sounding like Billy Connolly for the rest of his life when he came to Australia at age thirteen. His earliest influence was Dr. Seuss whose poetic vision and imaginative wherewithal has remained with him to this day. The story of three young guys on surfari across the broad foot of Australia - was published in 2002 by Allen and Unwin and is being developed as a feature film. Neil's second novel -. There is dirt on my face. I do not care about anything else in the world except for what I am writing. T he Black Saturday fires affected more than 70 students and teachers from Diamond Valley College. As part of the recovery, and with the help of an Arts Victoria Artists-in-Schools grant, the students of the college joined with Neil Grant, teacher David Williams, and students and teachers from the International School of Kabul to share stories of resilience, courage and hope.

How he had stood up for what he believed. In the end that had been his undoing. This deceptively slim volume accomplishes no mean feat: working as a young-adult novel that tac...

Sometimes I am Şerifeh. I like to tell stories about where I lived the fullest. January 11, 2013. Middot; by whereserefegoes. El Lago is where you get your entry stamp into Ecuador. We scrounged a much needed shower from a hostel owner and jumped on a bus as it left for Quito and finally escaped the sting of those pricey long distance buses in Colombia. In Ecuador, you usually pay around a dollar for each hour of your journey. For the sake of travel–. Which makes insane sense to me. Tonight we have a 9pm...

November 22, 2013 · 23:49. My favourite Spanish expressions. In Spanish, we ‘take someone’s hair’ (tomar el pelo) instead of ‘pull their leg’, and we ‘throw a hand’ (echar un mano) instead of ‘lend a hand’. Like any language, there are plenty of informal, idiomatic expressions that make no sense if translated literally. Here’s a countdown of my favourites. 10 Es un rollo repollo. 7 Es que eres de Madrid? In English we would say ‘were you born in a barn? 6 Por si las moscas. 5 Me aburro como una ostra.
